You hit the nail on the head with this statement. The popularity of the Kardashians are an indictment on society

baw there's a town in South La named after my family on my grandmas side that her distant relatives originally settled, gtfo here with that shite. I was born in South La, grew up in CenLa, lived in Br/Shreve/ Nola and spent lots of time everywhere in between. Its all Louisiana, anything else is just banter. Thanks for proving my point though about lots of La people moving to Texas and similar ideologies. Go get you some sweet Ariats and drive your 2wd truck with mud grapplers on it like a true suburban Texan.
all that time spent typing without asking yourself if anyone gives a flying frick

I’ve never watched it before, but WHAT is the deal with the upvotes/downvotes in this thread?!
Feel like I’m missing out on something now.
Also - why are we suddenly sensitive about south LA/north LA jokes? That’s been a friendly joke forever. Who cares?

You're getting downvoted, but it's true. Anyone with half a brain knows that most of the show was just "made for TV".
As it is with any “reality” TV.

No, the redneck "we're just like you" personas for the show is the grift.
They definitely changed their appearance to appeal to that crowd for the show. It’s capitalism, they wanted to make money by targeting a certain segment. They are no better than anyone else really. I’d do the same.
I wouldn’t call it a con or a grift, just advertising. They are essentially the same as the Kardashians, they aren’t any better.

It was actually Bradshaw himself who has stated multiple times that Phil was the better QB at LA Tech.
I think Bradshaw came in when Phil was like a Junior so I think it is obvious that Phil would be a little more developed as a QB. Phil was actually a damn good athlete. Plus, Phil had already married Kay and they had their first kid Alan by this time so I am sure his give a shite meter about football was already starting to diminish knowing he wasn't going to the league, even though he did get some calls about trying out for some teams after he left.

I like them and by all accounts Phil seems to be a genuine guy who is truly thankful and content. Need more people like them

I watched two episodes. Can't understand why people watch other people sit around and talk in some shop.

By “all accounts,” you mean the ones that don’t mention Phil as a violent, philandering alcoholic? I understand you may like him because you identify with him culturally, but no, we’ll do just fine without “more people like him.”

I’m pretty sure folks in NE LA think of themselves as Louisianians. Most don’t even acknowledge Arkansas and only go to NW Mississippi to gamble or go somewhere else.
Also people up there don’t badmouth other areas of our State. Yes our State is diverse, but they sell booze on Sundays now up in NE LA. You can basically get anything they sell in Baton Rouge in Monroe. Yes there is a tremendous amount of crime, but instead of Cajuns there are Rednecks. Most rednecks like their beer and 4x4’s and stuff as Cajuns do. Literally we are all more alike than we are not alike. All that North vs South crap is bullshite. You can buy Gambinos or Meches king cakes in Monroe. You can get Eunice style cooking at Monroe restaurants. You can drink beer literally wherever the hell you want.
I’ve lived in every part of the State, and New Orleans is the only place that’s a different vibe from the rest of the State. Driving through or just staying in a hotel for a night or two doesn’t count. Live somewhere and then of you do/did then that’s your opinion.
