I’m in good shape, work out every day, eat right, and generally take very good care of myself.

This was me to a tee. Lifted hard, did tons of cardio (ran, boxed,BJJ), extremely careful with diet, took my vitamins, and was on a good Probiotic. I was probably in the best shape of my life at 49 up until I got the Delta Strain of Covid on July 24. Admitted to the ER on August 2 and was on a ventilator 4 days later. I spent 7 days on a vent and by all practical purposes should not even be typing this. I was released from the hospital a week ago yesterday to a rehabilitation facility where I was in therapy for 3 hours a day. I was released to go home yesterday.

Yes. Only universal donors are immune to COVID-19.

I think a study should be done on how the constant spitting from smokeless tobacco uses helps keep us from getting it. I don’t but two or three dippers that have gotten it.

The same reason that most of us don’t get the flu every year.

It’s not that contagious.

The only reason there are so many “cases” is that anxious people run to get tested every time they feel a little funny.

I would guess the vast majority of people who have had covid + tests (without major symptoms) also have clinical anxiety.

tl;dr version? I am not a scared bitch

Social distancing - check, been doing this for years
Wearing masks - check, as a simple courtesy
Staying home - no more than usual
Away from crowds - see above
Limiting trips/errands, etc. - no
Just luck? - old fart I used to work with defined luck as opportunity meeting preparation, and also observed how people who who worked hard and prepared well always seemed to be 'lucky' as compared to those who did neither.

Two other factors:
1. I work outside as much as I can. Sunlight and the associated vitamin D levels appear to fend off the Wuhan flu and other maladies.
2. I've never had the flu. Maybe my physiology is just resistant to the Covid viruses. Staph? not so much.

I don't really know. My wife got covid but me and the kids didn't. I worked 6 hrs beside a guy that tested positive less than 12hrs later.

Beginning to wonder if I got it and didn't show any symptoms.

Having a good immune system and NOT wearing a mask.

Drink 8oz OJ per day and eat one bananna.

Duke didn’t care for political posts in the Ida thread and threatened to harm male parts with sandpaper and Tabasco.

This is what’s so strange to me, a lot of people in my family are morbidly obese and it knocked them down for a week or so but never in the hospital. I also know of one guy about your age same thing, really good shape and he is also in hospital. Glad you’re doing well though.

I asked a similar question earlier. I don't do anything that would be considered preventative. I don't like people "in my space," so I guess I always maintain a bubble?

We stay away from large groups of people and always keep our distance when we go out. Always wear our masks. Wife and I have been fully vaccinated since mid April. With two kids, one of which has a compromised immune system, we just try and mitigate the risks.

I have been taking vitamin D, B12, probiotics and a multivitamin for years. I need to start taking zinc, but my immune system is pretty healthy.

On several occasions I have been around people with it but they didn't know at the time I was around them.

Im vaccinated and while I understand it isn't fully protecting people, its better than nothing.
