Mountain Brook outside of Birmingham, AL, is extremely underrated. It's gorgeous.
What I like about that location is that you're 4 hours from Gulf Shores, 5 from New Orleans, 2 from Atlanta, 3 from Nashville, 3.5 from the Smoky Mountains. It's a great central location to start a road trip.
It's probably the nicest suburb in the South.

I spent a summer in Bellingham. My uncle owned a law firm there and invited me to come work for him for the summer after my freshman year at LSU.
Its a cool place. Up and comer in the near future

If you like cookie cutter houses, terrible traffic, and weird arse people sure it’s great. It’s the Hoover of Huntsville.

Anywhere on the west coast if I don’t have to work. There’s way too many dependents on the subject.

Is there a support group I don't know about?

I like some of the Bham suburbs but the city is very meh. My wife would never move back to Alabama anyway.
My gum... wife would actually prefer Nola area for my family for a number of reasons, but I'd actually prefer Bham for a few reasons.

Let’s go ahead and eliminate these.
If you're going there, just move to Iowa.

My wife prefers being near my family and she dislikes AL like a lot on here do LA.
We also have a daughter going into the 6th grade and my wife doesn't want to move her if we don't have to.

Ironically school is of no concern to me if we went nola. Smaller kids, but my boys would go right into my old school and would be taught by HS friends, my favorite teachers that are still there, and even family members that teach there now.
I love Nola. My hesitation is more personal, maybe even selfish. We should probably move to Nola if I'm honest.
I actually do love my wife's family, in all their gumpiness, and new places are my preference. Plus the aesthetics of suburban central AL is nice too.
