I said I like Zachary. The biggest downside is the choices to go out to eat.
Just giving you the business. You were sounding like one of those people who post on the facebook groups who gets mad that McDonalds screwed their order up, but they still go there 3 times a day.

One issue I have is that the city council keeps approving track building subs developed by DR Horton and DSLD.
This is my biggest problem with the city. There's a lack of foresight on developments impact on infrastructure and school capacity.

Zachary is just fine. Forget the dining and entertainment options, or lack thereof. My grievance is the lack of a major interstate and having to use 61 or plank Rd to get to BR. Livingston and Ascension have their flaws, but at least they provide interstate access.

They should look at Denham Springs to see what happens when you keep approving tract subdivisions. It does not work out well.

Yeah you got it man. Your hometown is way cooler. Got me. Are you 15?
I'm just curious as to what is so great about Zachary. I'm not claiming that my hometown is "awesome for what it is". I grew up in Andrew, most people don't even know where that is and I wouldn't recommend living there.
I have family who live in Zachary, and my wife grew up there. I've spent a considerable amount of time there. I didn't say it was bad, I was just wondering what is so great about it. Most people will say the schools, and that is a valid point if you're comparing it to public schools in Baton Rouge, but overall the town is pretty average.

I didn't mean to imply that the town of Zachary, LA was named after Zachary Taylor.
Sorry for any potential misunderstanding and thanks for your clarification.

Isn't there a Winn Dixie there as well? I despise Rouses.

Yes there is a Winn Dixie right on LA19.

The Leblanc chain was better. Leblanc's had great customer service. They always had plenty of check out lines at the busy times of the day. Rouses and Winn Dixie could give 2 shits about customer service. Last time I went into Winn Dixie at 5 pm they had 2 check out lines opened. Took me 10 minutes to shop and 20 to check out. I haven't been back.

Having direct interstate access isn't all it's cracked up to be. Drive time from Zachary to Downtown Baton Rouge in the AM is about 20 minutes. The drive from Prairieville to Downtown BR in the AM is about 45 minutes on an average day (per a co-worker).
I'll agree Hwy 19 sucks driving through that shithole Baker and their camera tickets. I'm pretty certain HWY 61 moves faster than the interstate near Livingston and Ascension during peak hours.

Lived in Baton Rouge for about 15 years. Swore I'd never go back. Got divorced, moved back. Now I don't want to leave. It's nice. No traffic. Easy access to the interstate via U.S. 61 or La. 19.

I wish a Rouse's would open up closer to me. My grocery shopping options nearby are Winn Dixie and Walmart (super Walmart, not the neighborhood grocery kind). Winn Dixie is bad enough that it makes me consider Wally World.

Born and raised there sunny. Lane Memorial Hospital in 1976. Lived on Newell...miss it dearly.

I grew up there and got a wonderful education. I was well prepared for college and was thankful for that.
I also moved to Lafayette for undergrad and New Orleans grad school and will never ever move back or raise children there. Zachary is a great town for people who want their children to live amongst people who are closed minded & ignorant.

Yes. Watch out for that mean dog by the house with the Camry parked out front. He's sketchy as hell.

He only seems mean now because the goat by the railroad tracks died.
He was the original OG. Had that East State gait.
