i think they've done tests and putting money in index funds pretty much always leads to higher gains (esp after the fees are taken into account)
it's probably worth it for high income and/or net worth people though. for your average joe, yeah it's probably not worth it.

paying monthly for your cell phones.

such a crock. paying 800 for a cell phone is ridiculous too, but not as bad as doing the monthly plan they convinced everyone to do.

Ive had my phone for 5 years now (iPhone 5). i didnt pay 800 for it but lets say i did. paying the 25 or 30 dollars a month wouldve been that times 60 months so close to 1800 dollars.
So i paid my hypothetical 800 dollars to use a phone for 5 years instead of 1800 to get a new phone every year.
To me, getting a new phone every year that does the same things as the phone i already had isnt worth it.
Not only are they getting more money from you now, but theyre stabilizing their cash flows to keep the stock price up

Water conservation- It evaporates, turns into clouds and rains down over and freakin over. we don't "use" it, it's constantly recycled.

Global warming- The earth is constantly changing due to a big freakin ball of fire in the sky. It's called the Sun. Drive an SUV or a smartcar, it doesn't matter one bit.

Racism is the cause of some folks being poor and uneducated. A person's race has nothing to do with opportunities for education and/or having a successful career. It's just an excuse to be a lazy whiney biatch.

Religion is a tricky one. how a person spends their time and money is their own business. If a person finds value in something, like religion, then who's to say it's really a scam? While i see it as a waste of money and time, others do not.

all insurance is a scam, especially medical insurance, and on that note, paying medical bills without questioning them is a huge scam. 90% of the bills i get after i've already paid something at the doctors office is inaccurate.

Most warranties are a scam. Rarely do you find one that is legit. Those home warranties they give to you when you buy a new house are the biggest crocks of shite.

not at all. every civilization from advanced to basic has some form of it.... how does that make it a scam?

Is it real? that isnt the point of this thread. But i do 100% believe that there is something within the human mind that allows it to further its self believing there is something more out there.
