I mentioned having high cholesterol in a thread a few days ago, and this way of eating seemed a pretty popular choice. Any book recommendations or are they all pretty much the same?

And I know there have been lots of things already recommended. It's a little information overload. Just wanting the best couple of books to begin with. But as always,

You need to be reading all the information available on the /r keto sub on Reddit.

You can also use the introductory stage of the Atkins diet book to do "lazy" keto.

Maybe I'm misinformed, but isn't Keto basically avoiding all carbs and eating a shite ton of red meat?

And isn't red meat one of the no nos when trying to lower your cholesterol?

Has nothing to do with red meat. Has everyone to do with fat.

I'm looking at The Primal Blueprint, and then the 21-day challenge. Is that not included in the original book?

you are very miss informed.

Carl go over to the food and drink board and click on the putthaforkdown thread. In the first post you will find a link to my google drive. Go read the whole30 diet book and anything on the mountain dog diet.

Essentially its not about going keto its about being informed and eating much higher quality foods. You want to stay away from prossessed foods as much as possible.

Essentially you want to choose the best version of the food as you can and you want to stick to meats, veggies, fruits and unproccessed carbs.

So for example instead of choosing a normal steak that comes from a cow fed a grain based diet chose a steak from a grass fed cow, same goes for all red meat. Grass fed cows and animals that are allowed to have free range and eat their natural diet tend to produce meat that has a much better fat profile. Free range chickens, eggs from free range chickens, grass fed butter, ghee, brown butter, grass fed cheese are other examples of choosing the best of a particular food item. Local seafood and wild game are other examples.

Same goes for fruits and veggies. If you can plant them yourselves and eat them that away, great. If not pick the closest to that which would be buying from a farmers market.

There is nothing wrong with eating regular meat or veggies/fruit but if possible you want the majority of your diet to come from high quality items.

If you are doing well on this type of diet and want to add some carbs in, outside of fruits, just to try than throw in some non proccessed foods like different types of potatoes, rice, beans. Keep it startchy and stay away from much sugar.

if you need help let me know, as deal with the same issue.

Keto Cycle

Check out Jason Whitlock. Dude is a beast, and happens to do keto. This is his program, it's 15$ for a one time charge that tells you everything.

Primal Blueprint should have all the info you need. Pretty straightforward.
