I only drink with a meal. Never beer. I got drunk last weekend first time in four years. I don't miss drinking. Is rather a bowl here and there

If you can’t drink beer, whiskey, or rum in moderation without getting fat, you have bad genetics.
Clear liquors are objectively better for your body than beer.

About 6 months ago it was a couple bourbons every night. Right around the holidays, my daughter just turned 1, and I found out that I enjoyed most evenings a lot more without a drink. I could extend my window to work out later into the evening, and still enjoy spending time with my kid while she was still awake. I'll still have an occasional drink, but nothing like it has been the past couple years.

Usually get me a 32ozer of bud ice for the drive home from the plant. Typically stop in Prairvieville and get another for the 2nd leg of the drive. Tall tumbler of jack for when I get home. Another tumbler of jack after my tv dinner. Finish it off with a couple menthols and another 32 oz bud ice as a night cap.

I had to clear my house out last weekend, and got to moving the bar.
I didn’t realize the obscene amount of liquor and wine and beer i’d Collected over the decade and a half. Literally hundreds of bottle, many not even opened.
I have a buying problem more than a drinking problem

How many before you decide to Uber or take a cab home? I ask because I was visitng friends this weekend and one couple in particular got drunk every night (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and only Ubered home once.
I just won't do that anymore. I give the keys to my wife who either doesn't drink or just has one or I Uber home.
We Uber if we think there is any realistic chance one of us will have more than 2-3 drinks over a several hour span. Which means we Uber a lot, but it's worth it IMO.
As for drinking habits, getting better, but still a few times a year when it was clearly too much. I've never really drank on weeknights and still rarely do. I'd like to get to where we have glasses of wine during the week (more for wine appreciation than anything else), but I'm reluctant to do that until I truly cut out the too much episodes (usually sports related).

I was 2-3 craft beers during the week, and 5-6 on the weekends. Mix in the occasional whiskey at the camp when it is cold. Working on not drinking during the week. We shall see.

A half glass of Merlot. Dinnertime.
I recently quit pot for the 5th time. Over a 50 year span. I started when was 26. doubt I do it again unless I'm diagnosed with an immediate death disease.
I also quit cigarettes. Most difficult. Can't have two or I'm hooked.

Drink 3-4 beers once or twice during the week and 4-8 per day on Friday-Sunday. Chasing or playing with a 1 year old has really helped me limit my drinking.

I have a bourbon and coke every other night. Three shots of bourbon with 12 oz. of Caffeine Free Coke Zero.
Haha. That’s great. That’s like me saying I have a glass of wine with dinner each night. And it’s one of those oversized glasses that fits an entire bottle of wine.

My question for those that will have 2-3 beers during the day and quit or just even 1 then move on about your night. Why even drink? Seems like it just makes you drowsy or tired. I guess that’s why I binge drink or just don’t drink at all.
If I drink 2-3 beers and it’s not bed time, I just sit there feeling like a zombie the rest of the day.

Like me, you are what AA calls an Episodic Abuser
Given that you seem to be able to live without alcohol I suggest you stay with that plan.
As someone recently said, social norms are changing.
As one who grew up inte huge cocktail parties that was the 60s 70s and 80s imbibing was almost a social requirement
Any who chose not to drink were subject to scorn and ridicule, not welcome to hang out with the cool kats and rat packs.
Today drinking is all downside and a social liability.

I go through a bottle of Reposado Tequila every 3-4 days. Sometimes quicker. Not a Vodka fan so it's the least "bad" of the alcohol calories. I also drink north of a gallon of water a day and cycle or run daily as well.
Pretty sure I'm an alcoholic though. Just not quite ready to let it go.

What does that mean? That you get drunk every so often? Is that even an issue if it doesn’t cause problems?
