Were the 80s the best time to be a kid in American history?

I don’t see America ever getting back to how great things seemed to be in the 80s based on movies/TV if there’s any accuracy to them at all. I was born in 87, so I didn’t get to experience it. Must’ve been nice.

Back then, we didn’t even have to lock the doors.

83-99 was best era in American history
Everybody had money
Home ownership was increasing rapidly
Cold War winding down, relative peace across whole planet
Sensible American politics
Democratic Party and gop were centrist and hadn’t gone batshit yet
College and health costs weren’t as problematic
Still could get decent job without degree
Country wasn’t divided

I loved them.
Pre-mainstream internet. But with the rise of tech..
A bicycle, mario bros/duck hunt, and imagination were all a boy needed.
ETA
And Saturday morning cartoons

I grew up in Central and we didn't either.
The 80s was the time period that I spent most of my childhood in.

Yep.
I can't think of any era that's better than being a kid in the 80s and a teenager in the 90s.
That was the best time to have your childhood and formative years.

The 80s were awesome.
I could see an argument for the 50s and 60s too, because some of the safety nazi stuff had already taken hold by the 80s. One example is M80s, but there were other potentially dangerous items that manufacturers would still make.

We literally did not comeback inside until it was dark and back then they had lots of fireflies. I haven’t seen those in years.
