IMO the stats are a bit misleading for your average Joe who’s throwing darts at a map to decide where to live. To someone who’s willing to get his hands dirty in industry or gets educated with a niche job in mind the economy isn’t dead-last bad. If you put your kids in private school or move to one of the good public districts education is at least middle of the pack. 90% of the crime happens far away from where decent people live. I’d actually be curious what goes into the quality of life stat that makes us rank so low.

They’ve got us on health, though. You’re gonna put on weight when the food’s this good, lol.

This list is suspect because the factors for ranking southern states low include obesity, smoking, diabetes. These are all personal decisions. The state doesn’t make them automatically diabetic.

Most everything on this list is affected by personal decisions.

They always have more bearing on your success and happiness than statistics.

If you have a hard time making good decisions, this list is for you.

Gave the wnba a lot more and better players than Caitlin over the years. She’s a one trick pony, it’s why her teams never win when it matters.

The quality of life here is awesome because the people are so fun to be around and the food is best in the world. Should be top-10 there, but safety should be 50.

Yes, having three cities with some of the highest crime rates in the country sounds friendly.

Refer back to LA’s poor education ranking.

These rankings are all shallow and biased just like US News trash college rankings that have had an east coast west coast bias forever.

Furthermore, if you have money, Louisiana is awesome and so are many “undesirable” gulf states…

flyover states like Oklahoma

Oklahoma is coming hard after people that live in Houston. Multiple billboards in IAH targeting baws that have to live in Katy and West to drive into the Energy Corridor and Downtown.
