Yeah that's why I was confused about someone saying billboard lawyers would be affected by the comparative fault change. They take 100% liability cases, just 10,000 of them a year because usually the payouts are low. It's a volume business, not one based on liability disputes.

I agree but that's just going to, sadly, lead to more uninsured drivers (due to the cost increase)

I’m gonna file this under it’s gotta get worse before it can get better.

Not really. They slipped in the $100,000 exemption. That is a very easy hurdle to clear. I really doubt Gordon is taking on a lot of $50,000 claims.

Wrong…. It’s death by a thousand cuts. It’s volume that makes him money. Do you actually think all he takes are big cases.

It’s the ones under 50k that are easy to get. No jury…. I guess until maybe a year or 2 ago when that was supposed to be dropped. We were the only state in the nation that had to go over 50k to have a jury present. I think that’s right…

It’s a little more complicated than that. The “volume business” model is every bit as much about being able to troll for big policy cases.

You could probably take 100000 cases a year instead of posting 100000 times

They're pretty bad then too, unfortunately .

I use lawyers a lot, and I find them to be great. Professional, smart, knowledgable and reasonably priced. Of course, I only use good lawyers.

I had a very simple real estate deal a couple of years ago, and I used a lawyer my brother recommended, and the lawyer was a knucklehead, but that’s on me for not getting a better recommendation.

Injury lawyers send clients to certain doctors who skip insurance and bill at inflated rates through liens, then use those fake prices in court to boost settlements. It’s legal, but it’s driving up everyone’s insurance premiums — and nobody's fixing it.

We also need to pass a law requiring healthcare providers to accept health insurance at contracted rates for injuries regardless of how they happen.

A while back I was riding with a friend who got t-boned by a guy who ran a red light while watching a video on his phone. I ended up with a broken wrist so I went to see my ortho. Been seeing this doctor for 10 years. Guy had done my ACL repair, helped with stress fracture, and several other prior issues.

When I went in for the broken wrist, I filled out the forms saying my injury was the result of a car accident. The doctor then told me because my health insurance was not primary, that I had to pay his full rate out of pocket which was some ridiculous number that no one actually pays. I argued with him about taking my health insurance or at least billing at the health insurance rate, but all he said was that the auto insurance would eventually pay it.

Every ortho in my network that I called told me the same thing. Such bullshite.

That's exactly why I carry $100,000 in med pay on my auto insurance policy.

they’re not addressing the medical billing scam, which is a huge part of the problem. Injury lawyers send clients to certain doctors who skip insurance and bill at inflated rates

It is the same run around for traditional medical insurance.

Earlier this year, I had to get a blood test a hospital. They billed by insurance for 1,700 dollars, but my insured rate was maybe 130.

Why not just bill 130 and your negotiated rate is 130. I know they try to bill so much so that when Medicare or Medicaid Reimbursements hit at only 20-30% of the billed cost, so they aim high with large numbers hoping to get crumbs. I wonder if that is part of the Art of the Deal.

The settlement mills like Gordon will absolutely recommend settling a $500,000 case that will take a year for $100,000 if they can get it in 2 months.

I voted for Landry, but he is not the Republican I wanted. I am more disappointed than I could have imagined. He is a caricature of a conservative southern governor, beholden to himself first and secondarily to the plaintiffs attorneys who funded his campaign, and I have seen nothing to indicate that he is interested in discussing serious solutions to our state's serious problems.

At least you admit you are a dumbass.

How did y'all not know this before the election?

And it's not just you, he ran away with it. It wasn't even close.
