This part isn’t as crazy as they want it to be.

Infant mortality rates in the US are less than 1%. A century ago it was like 10%.

Safely bringing babies into the world is something that the modern medical system is really good at. In this specific context, yeah it’s crazy.

Just walk through a 19th/early 20th century cemetery if you wanna see how perilous child birth is without modern medical care. It will stun you and leave you with a new appreciation of how brave all those women were who still had tons of kids despite the risks.

Yes, it is. That level of purely binary reasoning is a hallmark of mental illness. It’s not fundamentally different than saying that the sun causes cancer, so we should all live in the dark.

At least the husband wasn’t saddled with those huge Dr/hospital bills afterwards.

Having a birth at home isn't the only crazy decision here

FIFY

Home births are moronic. Playing with fire. shite can go bad very quickly and two lives are at stake. And there are no proven benefits to doing so.

Have a healthy distrust of the medical system but also give birth in a hospital where there are abundant resources to help you should an issue arise.

It’s almost like a good chunk of women have issues with birthing a child and there were many casualties throughout history.

My wife would’ve absolutely been rushed to the hospital or worse giving birth to our first two at home based on how her body was not reacting, their size, etc.

So you aren't going to trust a specific area of medical care that has about a 99.9999999% success rate globally because you got caught up in the politics of a covid vaccine? Yeah, sometimes you get the outcome you are asking for.

Up to 20% of a woman’s blood volume passes through the placenta every minute.

It’s not rocket science how they can bleed out quickly.

There is also a very fragile being hooked up to the system.

Essentially all risk no reward.

I'd suggest some crunchy mom's go visit an 1800's grave yard...lots of 18-22 years old girls who very likely died in childbirth.
