In lieu of wedding gifts I don't see an issue with this. IF they still expect both, that's fairly trashy.

I just don't see what the problem is since many people tend to put their gift registry info inside wedding invites too.

Exactly. Not everyone needs item for a home. Especially now that more and more people wait to get married until they are in their late 20s/early 30s. The couple may have even been living together for some time and already have all the home stuff. Maybe to them, taking a nice honeymoon is something they want more than blenders and gravy boats. To each his own.

My niece did something like this. They had a website where instead of paying for the honeymoon you could pay for excursions, massages, dinners, etc

We accepted donations for ours because we had to find a place for the kid to stay for 3 weeks and the MIL charged a lot.

Have you been living under a rock the past 5 years? Honeymoon registries are very common now.

I'm single and I wouldn't need any of the stuff people give at weddings.

So it violates your highly refined sense of etiquette and decorum. Maybe you should send regrets and opt out and let the people who don't think they are trailer park trash celebrate their marriage.

Normally I would, but I've never had the opportunity to experience this level of etiquette or lack thereof. I'm looking forward to it now

Have you looked in the mirror?

Agreed. Most people already have the common gifts given at weddings. I'd worry more about someone asking for a blender and some plates.....
I'm All about helping out on the honeymoon. Buy a nice dinner or a bunch of KY on me! Have fun kids.
It's about helping them out with what they need.

I'd rather someone be honest and say, "we really don't need or want any shite for our home and would rather have a honeymoon to remember"
Does anyone really want fine china?

Should I make a donation to your mortgage? your vehicle note? or anything else you need cash for?
