What is with this generation! We received two invitations for weddings where both of the couples asked for donations to pay for their honeymoon.

When did this start?

How tacky....nothing says trailer trash more than this.......

If you don't go and don't buy anything for them, then they're out the price of the invitation and postage.

Send them to the poor house. That'll teach them to be less trashy.

If they want that instead of the gift that's fine, I'm still paying the same amount. If they want a gift too they can go frick themselves.

This. The people bitching about this are out of touch.

Apparently this topic has struck a nerve. What the over/under for pages?

Do you really give a shite then if she spends that money on a blender vs some cash for their trip? What the hell logic are you using here?

A honeymoon registry is right below smoking cigarettes in a domestic sedan on the trashy scale.

He's a bitter, old ULL fan. He doesn't have much logic.

Oh, I forgot to mention that there were multiple wedding showers held for the money grab...

I can't make this up!

Okay Joe, sadly we agree on this. I give 1 gift regardless of how many showers or honey dos you have. All these parties have gotten out of control.

I doubt Joe was in attendance at any of these bridal showers.

You would be correct. We were not invited, but we wouldn't have gone anyway. Even family members were not happy about it

Yeah, last time I did that, the groom said, "I told you, she's not in that life anymore".

You could have said, I told her I would pay for it later

Sorry, if you are too poor to afford a honeymoon to some exotic location, then take one where you can afford it. I'm not paying for it.

What you don't get is you are giving them a gift. A frickING GIFT.

Give it freely without caveat, loser. You would happily buy them a $100 place setting but not put $100 towards a honeymoon registry, even though you know that is what they prefer? What a JACKASS.

Do these couples a favor and avoid their weddings. In fact do them a BIG favor and avoid the rest of their lives. They do not need you.

Seems like they are making good decisions that will serve them well for the rest of their life.

I get what most of the posters are saying about not buying kitchen crap no one needs and a honeymoon registry is cool, but the OP didn't say they signed up for a honeymoon registry. He says they're basically asking for "donations" or cash, which imo is trashy. One should never just come out and request cash from their guests. Don't get me started on the money dance. That's about as trailer trash as it gets.

Why don't they just set up a Gofundme? Seems like every other trashball on FB is doing this nowadays.

Next thing you know they'll be asking for a four slot toaster! In my day, two slots were good enough.
