The honeymoon registry usually pays for upgrades on the trip. The couple has already paid for the trip. This buys massages, excursions, dinners, etc.

Like I mentioned earlier, why not just ask me to make a mortgage payment for you, pay a car note, etc. instead of asking me to pay for your honeymoon. If you are that poor, don't go on one unit YOU can pay for it!

i'd support any of these options before buying some stupid gift. what makes gifts so sacred, other than tradition?

Same here, like I mentioned earlier I'm single and I already have all that crap anyway. So I imagine between the two of them they probably have two of everything.

exactly. gifts were given, traditionally, b/c marriage was the first time most marital participants left the nest
they lacked basic homemaking goods, so the wedding guests provided these goods
today the paradigm is completely different and these gifts are more vanity than utility. i hate the thought of buying a gift for this reason

people don't buy gifts like they used to, either. you go to a registry that tells you what to buy and what is still available
so your agency in gift giving has been completely removed anyway. you're literally just transferring case to them indirectly
i believe in efficiency and cutting out the middle man

I'm gonna be completely honest. Me and the wife preferred the gift cards the most. We used those things for two years.

Yep, and I actually love that. It makes things so easy. You know what makes it easier? Going to the arm and pulling out 100 bucks and giving it to them.
