I like the end of the video where the reporter is standing across the street from the data center. You can't hear the data center, but you can hear the cars driving by him. Hmm...

Northern Virginia has been an epicenter for data centers since the early 2000s. When I left Prince William County in 2004 they were being built all over PW and Loudon Counties. At the time they were a boon for my parents in subsidizing property taxes.. no clue if that’s still the case in Va.

All of a sudden they are just now this terrible phenomenon? I can understand folks don’t want the land near them developed for anything… but that is the beauty of property rights. The folks that own the land can do with it what they please.

I love the clearly AI generated anti data center posts on the socials as well.

yep. go to Google Earth and take a close look at the "Business Park" off the North end of Dulles runway. LOTS of data centers.

Just out of curiosity, do they generally put refineries right on top of cities?

Hell, in LA, they are general eyesores, but no one lives right next to them.

How many refineries were built right next to existing neighborhoods?

Um, try NORCO, St. Rose, and Chalmette just for starters. Plenty of Nice neighborhoods near all the plants right outside of BR.

were those refineries there first? Or did the neighborhoods build next to them?
I think the point is, the DCs are being built next/close to existing residential areas. I can understand the anger from residents.

Virginia is for Third World Immigrants" might be more accurate based on how NoVa is looking these days.

I was in Loudoun County 3 weeks ago. I couldn't believe the amount of immigrants in the area. fricking eye opening and I live in the Houston area
