People can exercise all they want and that's great. However in order to lose fat remember this saying, "great abs are made in the kitchen"

With gyms closed, I've run 75 miles in April. I'm going to look like a freshman on his first day in weightlifting once the gyms open back up though

Yeah, people are either going to be fat or skinny after this. No one that was fat or skinny before this is going to be muscled up.

I agree, I would love to see commercials basically laying out some facts. For example-

"Of the 59,000 people who have tragically passsed from this virus, 35,000(obviously made that # up from top of my head, idk the numbers) were reportedly obese). Being obese makes you a higher risk not only for Covid-19, but also for other diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension, which annually kills up to 100,000(again, making up #s) a year.

"Continue to social distance, but at the same time get out, be active, and eat healthy. One of the best ways you can love yourself is to take care of your body. We all want to see our grandkids and great grankids, so lets do everything we can to ensure we are able to do so."

The other day I heard a CDC commercial for Covid and they omitted Obesity as a risk factor. They listed all the rest just not that one. Someone fat must have complained.

We're doomed.

Within 6 months after all this is over, things like washing your hands, eating right and basically just taking care of yourself will all be forgotten by those that need to the most.

I've been a lot more active in lockdown, going long walks besides my workouts. It's been nice, and I have a better tan

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and conclude that people get fat from eating too much food.

A large portion of our economy deals with farming, manufacturing and selling food products.

To answer the OP, "Why are we avoiding combating obesity?" The answer is that to combat obesity is to harm certain segments of our economy. We don't like it when the government fricks with our economy.
