We are missing a huge opportunity to combat obesity, why are we avoiding it?

Obesity puts you at a much larger risk of dying from Covid, and yet nobody in power seems to want use this crisis as an opportunity to get America off the couch.

Instead of NBC airing stupid "we're in this together" PSAs, they should do a More You Know about how being fat puts you more at risk of dying from Covid.

why would this change anything?

you're right, but people are just gonna relate more with and listen to the "quarantine bod" memes and convince themselves that getting fatter is an acceptable part of all this

We’ve normalized being fat. Seriously, Most people don’t even know they’re clinically obese.

I agree. We need those fats to get out and catch the covid. It'll curb diabetes once the die, as well. Two birds with one stone. Plus, we won't have to be paying for their disability anymore just because they couldn't control their diet. Sounds like a win/win.

Why even watch that garbage? People will do well if they get out of the house and just start walking! Every few hours, if people would just get outside, walk around the block or somewhere, feels great!

What is your solution then? I remember when NYC gov't passed a law that banned big gulps and that was met with a "Gov't should not tell me what to do...I'll buy a big gulp and be fat if I want. It's my choice"

Because the economy thrives on obesity. Fast food, sugar industry, diet industry, medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, physician salaries, television, etc

I'm down 17 pounds this so far (3 pounds away from the goal weight). Everyone needs to get off their fat asses and get some exercise in. You hopefully won't have an opportunity like this again. I don't think most people are going to come out of this roided out, but you can go take a 6 mile walk/jog a day. It's not only good for your health, but the virus' half life at 72 degrees and sunny is 2 minutes, so it can also help kill off the virus more quickly.

Round them up and take them to some sort of Summer retreat camp. Then, maybe they'll be able to concentrate and come up with a final solution to resolve their issues.

We need to bring back fat shaming and I say that as person who is trying to loose weight.

ETA: Not obese. Would just like to drop some pounds.
