If you can't understand why they are doing what they are doing then I don't know what to say.

If hospitals are already at capacity or over.. Imagine if everyone was able to go on like usual and how much more the virus would spread. Then you would start seeing people who would be able to get over the virus with proper medical treatment die.

Is that not a reason to try to stop this virus from spreading?

If nothing was being done people would be wondering why the government isn't doing anything to help people. No matter what they do people will be upset. But evidently if I agree with the government on this particular situation I am brainwashed and a "sheep".

You are brainwashed by thinking all the government wants to do is control us. And fail to realize, as I mentioned before, we still elect our officials and because of that we have more control over our government because of that.

But yeah, lets allow churches to open so hundreds of people can be around each other, shaking hands, hugging, etc so that someone who is carrying the virus can give it to 8-10 other people who will all go around and give it to their family members and they pass it on to whoever and along that chain, it kills 3 or 4 people.. maybe more because WaydownSouth doesn't want to have to sacrifice for a little while because he thinks the government will take all his rights away.

A third of the country out of work is the greater good?
I’m not talking about people out of work. Obviously they have a real reason to be upset.

I’m talking about the moronic “they’re taking our freedoms!” dumbasses.

We’re effectively a country at war right now. During WWII, factories were converted to make planes, guns, ammo, ships, etc. There were shortages of goods at home because of so much going towards the war effort. Women went to work in factories building bombs while men were sent off to war. People were encouraged to buy war bonds.

Living like that went on for years.

We’ve been told we should stay at home and watch Netflix for a few months and less than a month in people are already bitching about not being able to play golf or stuff their fat faces at Applebee’s.

I feel for people who have lost their jobs. I’m not talking about their very real plight. I’m talking about the selfish people bitching about their “freedoms” being stepped on because they can’t eat at Pancho’s. All the while hospital workers are exhausted day and night treating dying people who are helplessly suffocating.

I’ve got conservative friends on facebbok that used to brag about using their guns to fight the government in a civil war, and they are now applauding authoritarian rule and reporting their neighbors to authorities. It’s weird.

Should we do this same thing for a few months every year during flu season?

Yep. The Poli Board is full of “conservatives” who are championing this unprecedented government overreach. I’ll bet there are several in this thread as well.

In what way is this analogous to Animal Farm? Does that make Trump Napoleon the Pig?

How was he prevented from practicing his religion?

This is not the flu. There have been over 20,000 deaths from the flu.

If this coronavirus was as widespread as the flu, there would be nearly 700,000 deaths. And no, I’m not using total flu estimates to get to that number. I’m using confirmed positive flu test numbers so that both Covid and Flu are on an even playing field.

am surprised that there hasn't been as much push back against these massive restrictions as I figured.

Can’t bite the hand that feeds you... when so many are depending on these stimulus checks that won’t last long at all then what will people do???

But yeah, lets allow churches to open

Church congregations should voluntarily adhere to social distancing guidelines in midst of pandemic.

But if you don't understand the difference between that, and government ENFORCED closure of a House of Worship... well then, we really are fricked as a nation and people no longer cherish or understand rights and liberty.

People are rightfully blasting you, because its not the government's place to ALLOW fricking shite. Government itself only exists through the consent of the governed.

All government enforcement is through penalty. Government closing churches, restricting travel, mandatory curfew, private business closure, etc at gunpoint is what you advocate, and yes... that is wrong.

I would liken this event more analagous to "V for Vendetta"... whereby a biological terror attack (in that case, a false flag virus planted by their own govt, in our case planted by china, otherwise who knows...) leads to a society foolishly abrogating their own personal rights and thusly falling under authoritarian dystopian government. Because, "muh safety"

Scruffy finds it funny that y’all think they will just turn around and give all these power grabs back.

Scruffy is 100% right on this. When the politicians see how easy it was to get the masses to comply, this will be the new default reaction to any “crisis.” All under the excuse of doing it “for your safety.” Government loves to exert power. It’s what they do.

What the government wants is for people to stay the frick home in order to stop this virus from spreading as much as possible because the faster we can get this shite under control we can get back to life as usual.

Why do people keep saying this The shelter in place orders are to keep everyone from getting it all at once so hospitals are not overtaxed. It will prolong the pandemic, not shorten it.

Been here since at least mid feb to spread around new orleans. Killed 7800 in roughly 2 months. I’m supposed to believe it kills 100 x that over the next 3-6 months? Get the frick out of here
