Was there for the first, skipped the second. There's no reason for the father to be in there and see that shite. Send her mom or sister or something. You think back in the Indian days that the Warriors were in there watching a baby get shoved out Pocahontas' pussy? frick no, they were hitting the peace pipe around the fire while all the squaws were in the maternity teepee.

It's a incredibly remarkable experience to see your child enter the world, breathe his or her first breathe, and make his or her first sound. I wouldn't trade that moment for the world. I even cut the cord.

To each his own. I for one see no reason to be in there. Trust me, when she's in the middle of labor she doesn't give a shite if you're there. Her mother will do just fine.

I was in the room for both of mine. In no way was I going to look so I stayed by my wife's head....but I think I would have personally regretted not being there for their births. It's a life-changing moment that I'll never forget.
Cut the cord for both of 'em too. But I definitely wasn't getting down and dirty where the doc was.

I can't believe how many use the lame excuse that in the oldin days, men weren't allowed. Yeah, there were probably a lot of stupid shite that happened in the past that we think was silly and have progressed away from. Thank God for that.

Agreed. Hell we told my parents and her parents to stay home for the 2nd one (ended up delivering @ 5:40am). frick, you can go fishing pretty much any day....you only get 1 chance to be there when your child is born.

The stuff this board comes up with to get up in arms about, I swear.
Supporting your wife is the biggest reason I feel you should WANT to be there. And I saw everything....and I wasn't bothered by it at all (no c section). I was worried that I wouldn't be able to handle it, but it's an experience unlike any other and you put that stuff out of your mind.
And the "don't want to be in the way" people need to come up with another cop out. The delivery experience is set up for the mother AND father. It's not like the nurse are "I hate it when the a-hole father shows up, so much harder now".

I watched both of my children being born naturally. It was freaking awesome and terrifying and beautiful and weird and awesome.

Agreed, it's a damn stupid excuse. You basically stand up next to your wife and the doctor and a nurse or two do their thing without much worry about you being in the way. It's a big room and was not in any way a strange situation.

My first in 2011 was a C section. Wife asked me if I was going to look. I had nothing to contribute to that situation, so I did not. I did however join in with the anesthesiologist and attending nurse to give my wife's doctor shite about 9-6 as he was a Bama grad.

I had my first child this past Tuesday, a little boy. If you are not willing to be in the room encouraging your wife while she goes through birth then you're less of a man than Caitlin Jenner. We did not know what the sex was going to be, to miss out on that experience would've been the biggest travesty of my life.
