Stupid tradition. Wife doesn't need to hold my hand during vasectomy. Love my child, but don't need to see the mrs. Push out a shite while trying to push out a baby. It happens.

was in the room during her c-section, but didnt go behind the curtain. I did cut the cord though.

Was there for mine, didn't watch everything. Can't handle medical stuff too well.
It was very hard to watch, my wife didn't have the best delivery. It was far better than the lady down the hall that did it with out the drugs though. That was the worst sound I have ever heard come from a person in real life. Glad I didn't have to go through that with my wife.
I wouldn't of let my wife go through it alone if given a choice. I was more than happy to be there and support her. I wouldn't call it life changing or any of the other cliches thrown around, getting the kid and altering your lives to care for the child does that part. The birth process is pretty clinical and pretty much like any other major hospital experience I have seen family members go through prior, except I get a whiney potato that squirts out various fluids to take home.

Explain how I'm dumb. It does happen thousands of times each day.

I was there for all three. It is wonderful.

They asked me if I wanted to watch in the mirror.

Are you fricking retarded? I may suck at marriage but 4 of the best things I ever did was watch my little shite Biscuits exit their mamas.

Really, examine what you said. Think about it, then realize how dumb it was. Look I understand it's cool or whatever to go against the grain on this board, but it's not hard to filter out dumb responses. If you feel cool or popular having said your piece, then you achieved your goal. Doesn't make it any less dumb.

Watched the first via skype..picture wasnt very clear so I didn't see much.
Wife had emergency c sec for the 2nd...wasn't allowed to be in the room during the operation
Not going to be a third and I am more than ok with that

Seems like I'm the unpopular one here. I honestly don't see the point in being in the room. I was there for the first. Politely declined the option for the second.

I've been there four time and had the honor of cutting three cords (one the assisting cut without asking). I will say I watched the first come out. At first I was like ooooo look at that little head pushing out - so cute, then reality forced its way out and holy hell it was horrifying to watch her get stretched like that. The last three I held wife's hand or leg and talked to her helping her through it as best I could but I was not going to look away from her face until I heard that beautiful cry.
If you are a man you must be there doing any and everything you can for your wife. You need to hand your child to her and share that moment with her. I guess if you choose to miss it you will never know that moment of joy and will miss that first chance to bond with your child. And if that is your choice don't be surprised if the next looks more like her coworker or your buddy.

You have to be there for the birth of your child.

I have one child and that is an experience everyone should have. Her birth started as a regular birth and she even crowned. I got to touch her head while inside of her mom but her mom was built kind of tight. It tripped me out that a person was inside of my fiance's vj. Then it went downhill and I got to see the emergency C-section and the doctor pull my daughter out of her cut open abdomen.

Everyone is different. I thought the process was wild/awesome. Regular birth and a c-section.

is a bad idea.
Whomever determined that the father should witness that crap was deranged.

I hung out by her head in the regular delivery room. I wasn't watching the downstairs action. Had ESPN on and we all watched between pushing sessions. They ended up having to do C-section. Stayed by the head again for that. Saw nothing. Got to hear my son cry for the first time. That feeling will be remembered forever. Couldn't imagine not being there. Trust me, you think it's not a big deal. I never thought I'd get "emotional", but I was tearing up when I heard him cry. Then I saw the ugly little bastard and was wondering who the hell the father was, cause he sure as hell didn't look like me
. But the swelling down in a day and he looked normal. Its something you dont want to do, but you'll be glad you did.

Don't miss the birth. Most enjoyable experience imaginable.
You don't have to stand between her legs and inspect things.
