I agree with this. There was one at the pool hall I used to hang out in when I was a young man and we used to have some epic two on two games with plenty of colorful language and shite talking. It really was fun

I spent way more time in the SLU union game room playing Foosball and not going to class than I should have..
I ended up getting a Tornado coin op table for my house and had it for a very long time.. Miss playing it now..

I sucked at pool, but with a good partner I could sit on that table all night and dominate. I would team with him, running defense and goalie and we were nearly unstoppable.
It was a game that was a lot less common than pool so most people had no experience playing and got their asses kicked by guys like me. So for them, it was not fun. I think it also had a steeper learning curve to even get kinda good.
But for players, it was a blast.
That sounds like a Community episode plot...

I was a pretty good bar player back in the day.
Then I played in a few local tournaments against semi-pros and one of the top ranked players in the country. Humbling does not begin to describe it.
Tornado tables ruined the game for me. I could not adapt my game.

Not much. And especially unfun when you came across someone that could flick his wrist and shoot it at light speed.

Unlike almost every other modern table, Tornado men are not symmetrical and favor a "front pin" (ball in front) approach only.
Most of my offense on Million Dollar and Dynamo tables was based off a "back pin" setup.
I did not have the time to dedicate to the game at that point in my life.
Tornado handles also suck - they require players to bring their own tennis racquet-style removable grip tape to put on them.

A bunch of us were in a bar a couple years back and they had a table. Someone said “let’s play” and we played a couple of games. Then my neighbors wife said “I’ll go” and she got on the table and proceeded to whip the shite out of every one of us. She would play two of us and we still couldn’t score. It was amazing really. Her husband was stunned.
Apparently she had some dark past as a Foosball Wizard that he had zero clue about. They have been married since right after high school so I have no idea at what point she learned this skill and managed to keep it hidden all these years.

foosball is very fun if you play alot and get decent. its not a game that you will walk up to and be very good at against people that know how to play. when a place has a good foosball scene it is much more fun than pool.

My cousin and I are the same age and we were basically brothers growing up. I played goalie/ defender he played midfield/ attack.
Between foosball and Pedro we would have some good runs.

I loved it. We had one at church and my friends and I would play at least 2 hours every Wed night in the summer. Once busted my finger open on the handles though... sometimes it got too intense

Yes it's fun. One of my exes had a brother that had a huge shop building with 4 foosball tables. Every weekend it was about 20 people getting drunk and smoking green and listening to music playing footsall all night long.
Some of those dudes were unbelievably good. I got good myself. If you play with people that know how to play and not count slop (like releasing your hand from the handle to spin the shite out of it), it's a great drinking and smoking game.
You really need the front line player to put his players parallel to the table when the back line guy has the ball, the back line player can really score and pass well if the front 2 lines don't block the ball.

There's a group of guys in their 50's who play some sort of tournament at least once or twice a week at the neighborhood sports bar. I think it's largely an excuse for them to meet up and take smoke breaks in the parking lot.

I had a foosball table for awhile. I got what I thought was pretty good at it. Then I sold the table to some guys who said they'd double what they were paying me if I could score a point on them. They were another world good. I felt like a fat kid in middle school squaring up with a NFL receiver. All the confidence in the world and 0 execution.
I had days where I'd have sore tarsals from playing foosball. But, I must admit I was a mediocre player in the end.
