Was FEMA response during Katrina worse or better than Helene?

Interested in the OTs opinion here.
Katrina was during a time with no social media and news outlets & written media were king.
The narrative was way easier to set.
With Helene you see reports of poor FEMA response and crazy on site stories. But with this storm we have the opposite situation. Social media brings so much information that it’s hard to believe anything at face value anymore.

Both are bad
But if it was a Republican administration there would be A LOT more news coverage about this

Not sure how anyone could really say unless they were in the shite for both. And I’d be surprised if that person posts here.

Even though I was 24 when Katrina hit, I had no idea such a thing as FEMA existed. I knew about welfare and food stamps, but I had no idea there were people among me that were basically just wards of the State.

Who is going to get the Kanye role for Helene? Kid Rock?

Worse. But, It's embarrassing that they didn't learn anything from Katarina. Things should have improved. However, I volunteered at the Lamar Dixon shelter for months, and those at the shelter got a ridiculous amount of money compared to those that were with family. It was extremely hard to witness, since I had lots of family suffering.

At no time did Bush withhold funds or operations except when expressly forbid by the governor and Mayor of New Orleans. They played politics to create the shitshow. Now, I can’t stand any of the Bush’s because they were likely in on the whole operation, but none of the states resisted help this disaster.
I think in terms of damage, we will need to still find bodies before trying to figure how it compares.

Man, there were all kinds of crazy, whacked out frickin' stories that came from Katrina's aftermath. And maybe you don't know this but we did have the internet back then with Facebook and MySpace and whatever else.
There are still people who believe SEAL teams were killing looters and that sharks were swimming along Canal St.

The streets of N.O. were flooded for weeks after Katrina.

Worse for Katrina because operationally and logistically it wasn’t as challenging.
They were both shite shows though, and neither probably could have been run well by anyone.

When you have hood rats in an urban area shooting at rescue helicopters, you tend to get a swarm response that isolated hillbillies who aren’t shooting won’t get.

Katrina = inception of the “Cajun navy”
Helene= inception of the “ pony express” ( mules and goats)

Worse but both shite shows. We shall see how FEMA does with this next disaster about to unfold but I don't hold out high hopes.

The Gov matters the most. For Katrina, Gov Blanco was in over her head.

What I remember, is that FEMA wanted to waste time getting volunteers to register, obviously that was disregarded by locals with boats.
I was at the Dome with the Guard at the time so my info was probably not the best at the time.
