What is the story behind this btw?

Just curious, but what are the tax implications of this? I don't think you can "gift" someone a $150k house without there being some sort of tax bill.
Would the recipient have to pay that? Or the giver?

Finally just a good story of a person
Dunn is an awesome and humble guy. He took the tragedy of his mother's death and has turned her memory into positivity.

This doesnt make any sense, but neither does the NCAA's logic

Was Dashaun already a 5 star athlete in 2006? No. Dunn has given houses to lot's of families through his charity. He has no way of knowing one might turn into a future recruit.

Kudos to him. He doesn't take a knee, or try and divide people, he gives them a home

I wonder who pays for all the tattoos the college players get? Dashaun has a shite load of them and I'm sure they're not cheap. I'm assuming playing qb for the national championship team plus being a full time student leaves little time to have a job.
Do NCAA football teams have a full time tattoo artist on staff?

I think they mainly cover the down payment and furnishing costs. The recipient still makes the monthly mortgage payments. Warrick has said it's not just about giving away a home, it's about giving them the opportunity to take ownership of something they'd never have a chance to otherwise.

I remember reading about it and he also makes the owner take some basic classes on how to properly manage their finances.
I do think the mortgage is actually an interest free one as well.

Warrick Dunn might be the only Catholic High grad who isn't an a-hole.

I also read that only one family out of the 150 he has helped get homes has lost the home. The rest either still own the homes or sold them.
Read about one woman that he helped that was able to eventually sell the home and be able to use the profits to set up a retirement fund for her and a college fund for her son.

Warrick Dunn does this like every year. He has a charity for it or something. He is an exemplary human being.

Yep. And as you said, only one person has lost their home. It's a very well run charity

He does the home thing cause he said his mother always dreamed of owning her own home....but never did.

He still continues to do it, and it's way more than 1 a year. I saw that he just recently gave away his 150th house.
In particular, he gives houses to single parent families.
I like the way he does it. He makes sure they deserve getting the house. In some cases, he puts down the down payment and puts in the furniture and I think pays for the insurance, but his goal is to give it to people who need help and is willing to keep working to maintain it, and better themselves.

This made me want to do some reading about WD. I'm assuming that the brothers and sisters are over 18 now. One article I found asked questions about his social life and dating. He mentioned that any woman would likely have a hard time accepting the 3 women in his life (2 sisters and his grandmother).
Made me wonder if he ever got married but Google gives me nothing. Seems like such a great, soft spoken, wonderful young man. His mom I'm sure is smiling from Heaven.
