Walmart self checkout gives the option to not print receipt, what does that mean

I have to imagine theft is through the roof but still considers manageable.
Also, the bulk products. Assorted nuts and candy ranges from $5 - $12 per lb and you print the label. You can’t tell me that a significant portion of our populace doesn’t take advantage of this. The clerk has no way of knowing if you picks $5 nuts or $12 nuts.
