Starting in September, subscribers to Walmart+ will be have access to the Paramount+ Essential Plan, which includes ads and offers original dramas such as “1883” and “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” along with the preschool franchise “PAW Patrol,” recent blockbuster films such as “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” and live sports.
The cost of Walmart+ will remain $98 a year, or $12.95 a month, the retailer said. It includes free shipping on items and discounts on gasoline. An Amazon Prime membership costs $139 a year, or $14.99 a month, and includes the Amazon Video service, original programming and free gaming, among other perks.

Disney said last week its streaming prices will increase this fall when a new ad-supported subscription tier of Disney+ launches. Hulu and ESPN+ will see price increases as well.
Netflix lost almost a million subscribers last spring and says an ad-supported tier is coming soon.

At what point, does it make sense to just go back to traditional cable, including satellite?

Well Walmart+ and Amazon Prime are more than just streaming, so they don't really fit perfectly into your argument.
However, the benefit of streaming is that you can use it rationally to save money. Most people are just too stupid or lazy to do that. The libraries rotate for the most part, so you only need to be concerned with the original programming or dedicated libraries. You can simply rotate 1-2 services every 3-4 months.
Amazon Prime + rotated service + Hoopla/Kanopy will satisfy any person's needs. People just act like they have to have all of the services.

It’s getting there. Except my cable bill from Cox is astronomical. However when I went to unbundle, it was only $30 a month cheaper to have just internet. And they are my only wired cable/internet option

Thanks for posting this OP. Since Walmart+ is free with my Amex Platinum, this is an unexpected perk.

Otherwise, everything I watch is either via satellite or using my TV provider account to login to online content (HBOMax, Showtime, ESPN, etc.) Part of it is that I don't have great internet options at home, so a move to only streaming isn't really feasible. Starlink TYFYS nonetheless.

Might actually get Walmart plus. But they need to expand their grocery delivery service.

I’ve ordered online from Walmart and Amazon.
The “no-questions asked - return at will” model that Amazon offers is worth the xtra money alone.
Trying to return at Walmart is a nightmare, especially if it came from a vendor or 3rd party.

I intend to just cycle through the different streaming services. I don't need to have all of them all the time.

It doesn’t.
I haven’t had cable since 2013 or 2014 and wouldn’t want it back. Why would anyone want to pay that kind of cost to watch all of 3 channels regularly?

10 cents off a gallon at every Exxon in the country with Walmart+ is a huge benefit that I'm not sure they market enough.

The part you're missing is the cable/satellite companies are also continuing to raise their prices every year. As others said, unless you need to have every package, you can get by for 1/2 the cost (a lot less if you don't want live TV).
I pay $65/month for You Tube TV
Hulu, ESPN+ & Disney+ are free through my Verizon account
And pay $10/month for Paramount (about to be lower once the merger goes through and we add the Walmart+)
We also have Amazon Prime, but I never factored that cost because we use the shite out of the free shipping through Amazon

with prime they regularly do deals like .99 for discover+ for 3 months. Stuff like that, so if you have prime you can rotate the channels out for pretty cheap. i did this with showtime to watch a few things i wanted then just canceled the subscription when i was done.

That's my issue. Plus they have a 1tb data cap, and once we went all streaming that became an issue, so I switched to unlimited data, and now I'm paying over $100 for ISP service.

Awhile back me and my brother was talking about Cox and how they will just randomly go up.
He told me his will go up 2 or 3 times a year and each time he calls Cox and tells them he isn't willing to pay anymore than he was paying and before he goes through the trouble of cancelling them, set up accounts for the streaming serves he wants he just wanted to see what they can do.
Each time they take the amount they went up off his bill. And that if he gets lucky and talks to the right call rep, they will give him HBO or Showtime free for a month or two so it might be worth giving them a call.
Speaking of Showtime does anyone watch City on the Hill?

So… they offloaded a content platform on Vudu only to partner with P+?

If cable companies were slick they would ease those rates down a bit and offer a better deal for a while. I bet they'd win back a lot of cord cutters as all the other outfits continue to jack up prices. Then, they can do the old classic switcheroo and raise rates. We will have come full circle in our home entertainment experience.

If ESPN had an app that played all televised live LSU games/sports, I'd drop YouTube TV (or any other streaming tv service) in a heartbeat. I only pay to watch live sports, particularly LSU & Pelicans. Saints/NFL I can watch for free on local antenna channels.
The local news & weather, I can also catch with my antenna.
