Saw this online the other day and thought I'd get the OT's take. Sorry if it's Germans. I'm here most days and don't remember seeing it.

Basic idea is that Walmart will help its "customers get rid of leftover opioids by giving them packets that turn the addictive painkillers into a useless gel."
quote:

The small packets, made by DisposeRX, contain a powder that is poured into prescription bottles. When mixed with warm water, the powder turns the pills into a biodegradable gel that can be thrown in the trash.

Walmart pharmacy customers can request a free packet at any time.

I'm sure there are earnest, sincere folks who believe this will magically solve the nation's opioid crisis, but, from where I sit, it sounds like a marketing ploy, and few, if any, actual opioids will ever be destroyed.

Why couldn't they just throw them in the trash or flush them?

I thought this was gonna say that if you give your opioids to Walmart, the new employees would take them and their brains would slowly turn into a useless gel like the other employees

Pills aren't supposed to be thrown away or flushed, because they can enter our water system. At least that's what I've been told. These gel things may keep the pills from leaching into ground water supply, I'm guessing.

Tell me about it. I was at the gas station by the river the other day and this fish walked up to me and told me that I had locked its Keys in its car and pop a lock was on its way but they only took cash and he was just a little short and could I spare some money.

And I asked him how Short he was.
And he said

And I said

Damn pills flushed down the toilet and turning Loch Ness monsters into junkies.

Yo don't flush pills.

We usually clean out our medicine cabinet every year and bring the bag of meds to the state police troop d they have a bin for collection to dispose of them.

Rite Aid where I fill prescriptions already has a lock box thing where you turn in old scripts and they dispose of them for you.
