King Edward, who was the great uncle of the current King Charles of England, abdicated so he could marry the still married to someone else lady named Wallis Simpson.

Read all about them when I was in the Bahamas a few years ago. He was the Governor of the Bahamas for a while and their pictures were everywhere at the resort. Very interesting.
