Hope you get whatever it is you’re after, but ain’t no way I’m waiting in that long of a line for ANY liquor. I don’t care what it is.

It used to just be on the shelves all over the place 6 or 7 years ago. It didn't stand out for me. What happened? Artificial scarcity, some movie used it or some influential dorks decided it was a must have?

Blanton’s is a 100 max in my opinion and that’s even if it is a gift. It’s a damn good buy at 60. I would try to get an E.H. Taylor Single barrel. My favorite of their line. Not saying it’s the best or anything, just my favorite.

It won bourbon of the year a couple years back, and everyone started ripping it off the shelves. Shame

I love Blantons to sip on but it’s become so overrated.

Waiting in line at Buffalo Trace Distillery to pick a bottle of something

I had to go investigate why anyone would do this.

Prior to Jan 1, 2022 a bottle would leave the warehouse, go the distributor and then go to the visitor center/gift shop. The retail shop was treated just like any other package liquor store and they often were at the mercy of the distributor. The distributor did all the tax paperwork and paid the taxes.

A new law went into effect on Jan 1, 2022 where the bottle can now go from the warehouse directly to the gift shop. The distiller now does the paperwork and pays the taxes. The distiller now makes more money per bottle and cuts out the middle man.

Bourbon stopped being about drinking and tasting like 10 years ago.

It's more like baseball cards now.

A the regional supermarket, like Kroger Win Dixie etc., they have a liquor store inside. This morning there was 8-10 folks, 2 in lawn chairs, waiting for the doors to open. All for the chance to get the available couple bottles of bourbon that is coming in.

I've been able to buy Blanton's off the shelf a few times this year, I figured that rush had died down some

Great when you can find it for the normal $20ish a bottle but the cult following for this one is odd

Do they sell Pappy? I’m running low and don’t have anything else to mix with my Dr. Pepper.
