This happens everyday. United's mistake was not offering more money. Bad on them.
The national fiasco was created by the cop and this jackass not complying. You don't win arguments on airplanes. Gtfo.

If you can't recognize how poorly mishandled this was on United Airlines part, then I don't know what to tell you.

Old guy got messed up pretty bad.
I'd like to see a better picture. Looks like he has huge welts under his eyes when they're dragging him out.

My cousin Walter was jerked off a plane once, true story. He was on a overbooked plane to New Mexico, when all of a sudden the security boarded the plane to forcibly remove him. He didn't want the vouchers and the situation started getting out of control so he decides it's all over and whips it out and starts beating it right there. So all the othe passengers take a cue from him and they start whipping it out and beating like mad. So all of the passangers are beatting off when all of a sudden reality kick back in and the situation rights itself. Everyone puts their pieces or whatever you know away and deboard. No one mentions the phenomenon to anyone else...

Well... did he cum or what?!

I sort of side with united here. The guy didn't want to get off, it's their plane, anyone who flies knows if you don't take the voucher and no one else does, you risk getting booted. This is a thing that airlines have been doing since forever. This guy wouldn't get off, it sucks but you can't just act like a fricking idiot either.
It was dumb moves by both of them.

This happened to a coworker in the Aspen airport.
UA gave him a $1200 voucher. Figured they had to offer something substantial considering the clientele at that airport.

Having shitty terms in a contract does not excuse poor service.
Actually those terms spell out very precisely what the airline will do if they can't provide service. Specifically, you not only get a rebate but you get a free voucher for 2-3 times the price of your ticket.
As I pointed out earlier, the airline does not promise to get you to your destination no matter what. They promise "best effort" and spell out what they will do if they can't get you there.
Sorry if you have a hard time understanding that.

Should've driven the 300 miles from Chicago to Louisville, but maybe he couldn't keep his eyes open...
