If you have an island that is mostly made up of an active volcano, key word active, why do they allow people to inhabit said island? I get that active is a relative term when in reference to volcanoes, but this particular volcano has had major eruptions as recently as 1914, and minor eruptions as recent as 2022, with a bunch of other eruptions in between those years. It just seems like a bad idea. Same can be said of Mt. Etna in Italy and Mauna Loa in Hawaii.

It's not just the lava that I'd be worried about, its the earthquakes, the toxic gases being spewed forth, Landslides, etc. plenty of issues come with an active volcano, why try to be all up in the mix of that. Just saying.

Just watched 'The Volcano: Rescue from Whakaari' on Netflix. Visiting a volcano has never really interested me...but after seeing that documentary, frick a volcano.

No, it just takes being an idiot to compare things we can see and prove to things that are unprovable and pushed by the media and politicians.

Damn, Nature! You scary.

In all seriousness, I've been waiting to see some good volcano activity after the Turkey earthquake.

Because those people's ancestors have inhabited said islands for a very, very long time.

Can the same thing not be said for the Gulf Coast and hurricanes? Hell, they're more frequent than major eruptions, so how would you feel if you and your family lived there for longer than we have records of and the government forced you off the coast? Nah, I'm good.
