Vermillion Parsh School Board City of Abbeville Marshall

If an attorney can prove malicious conduct or grossly negligent conduct, the veil can be potentially pierced and she can go after the cop as well. I sure as hell would. When all is said and done, he has to find a new job, and the other two parties wind up paying up for what was a very stupid action.

FWIW, I'd nail every arse to the cross that I could for that bullshite.

As for that fricking school board, I would like to see where they have operationally defined "public input" in writing. Disagreeing or dissension is not necessarily creating a public disturbance. The legislature really needs to tighten the definition of "public intimidation" because there is a hole there big enough to drive the state of Texas through.

It seems like he is already out. They didnt mention it on the news though. And I can't find the damn link where I read it earlier.

It was his last meeting as Acting President, and he's retiring at the end of the year. I think it would be hillarious if he didn't make the end of the week.

FYI his salary was just posted on KATC .. right at $100,000 50something in the state. Acadia Parish was >$225,000. The raise would rank Puyau either 32 or 38 (can't remember).

Says he felt it was appropriate given the rankings jump (which is due to teachers not him - just my 2 cents) and that he hasn't had a raise since he started at Superintendent.

And how long has it been since teachers or any other support staff have got a raise?

Correct. He was wrong and the bully with the badge and gun was wrong. Every statement being made now is either crawfishing, or removing themselves from responsibility. They know.

Does the teacher have family connections there? Is she from a large family? Are they wealthy?

If she pursues a lawsuit does her husband or father get fired from their jobs? I am just trying to get a feel for the local dynamic and power structure.

Pretty sure she doesn't even have to do that...attorneys will be aching to get their hands on this

With all the video, this is an easy paycheck. Only question is how much?

He had no grounds to tell her to leave. She raised her hand and was recognized by the chairman. She was on point with the topic and didn't stray from the agenda.

Officer should be fired and arrested for false arrest.

I honestly have no idea why someone would want to be on a school board

He threatened to arrest them because someone said they were calling Mike Couvillion, the Vermilion parish Sheriff.

Is that public intimidation though?

I would think it absolutely is considering his position as a officer.

You or me tell someone that it doesn't mean shite. When you do that when you wear a badge I think it is text book public intimidation.

I agree, but the officer was threatening to arrest the onlookers on the grounds that they were intimidating him.

Outrageous!

That officer needs retraining even if he was just following orders, because he threatened to arrest people that were recording him outside for “public intimidation.”

Give me a break! Everyone knew they had a right to record that situation taking place on public property and from a respectable distance. He had a bad feeling about what he was doing and didn’t want to be recorded.

This is the problem I have with the situation. Everyone around the situation just shut down once they got outside as if they were scared to do anything. I am not anti-police, but I think people should hold their ground and in this case, what the police was doing, it could have been done to anyone who lives there, who wants to bring up an issue questioning the dealings of local government.

Yeah I should have stated it better. I know he was claiming public intimidation but he is the one that was guilty of this.

What were they supposed to do differently, OweO? Restrain the officer? Once you are being arrested you can’t reason your way out of it, right or wrong.

They recorded it and notified the media, that seems to have worked.
