The cop is giving himself a much harder time than you could ever imagine giving to him. Just leave the guy alone and let the people involved handle it.
He is unqualified to be in that position. Terrible decision maker.

Nobody should have any sympathy for that douchebag cop.

Or he's scared of Fontana if he really did direct the cop to remove the lady. Not talking right or wrong but Fontana is scary and I'm assuming "connected".
If he lets ppl like this intimidate him into violating citizens rights then he should be fired.

A school board member does not have the authority to give a City Marshall commands. The Marshall does not work for Fontana. The Marshall should absolutely be fired. He had no right removing that woman and he abused his authority.

Depends...do these meetings have the same criteria as say a business?
You can walk into McDonalds and the manager say I don't want your arse here (regardless of what you did or didn't do) and if the police are called they will remove you. And if you don't remove yourself, you can be arrested.
These type of meetings may not be the same. I really don't know.

42nd out of 69
Super was 57th before the raise. Does he have a valid argument? Sure, but hard to feel sorry for a guy that is probably making double or triple what some of the teachers are making.
Either way, for this to be a Top 10 school district in the state, they sure do pay their employees like crap. They are getting a lot more bang for their buck.
Also, Fontana thinks it was a "set up":
Idiot School Board Member doesn't think Teacher could actually be upset about not getting a raise when 6 figure boss does

New info on Facebook
He was making $110,130. He'll now make $140,811. The board voted five to three in Puyau's favor.
The Superintendent told us directly he would not talk about last night's arrest, but he did talk about why the raise was justified. According to Puyau the salary bump was well researched and coming for some time.
"What we did was look at how our teachers compare to other teachers across Louisiana and Acadiana and how our administrators compare across everyone," said Puyau.
Story continues below
Here's how those numbers break down:
Teacher salaries in Vermilion Parish rank 42 out of 69 school districts in the state.
Principal salaries ranked 25.
Meanwhile, the Superintendent was below both of those rankings at 57th in the state and one of the lowest paid in Acadiana.
In fact, Puyau says he's never had a raise since being hired five years ago, and he feels a lot of progress has been made in that time.
"When I started our district was ranked right at number 17, out of the 69. Over the course of several years, we have improved to where we now rank number six," says Puyau.
Vermilion Parish also bumped up from a 'B' to an 'A' rating, making it one of just two 'A' school districts in Acadiana. Still, not everyone voted in Puyau's favor.
Story continues below
"The teachers who are really responsible for test scores, performance and everything else, have not been given a raise in the last ten years, so how can the board justify giving the Superintendent a $40,000 raise," says board member Kibbie Pillette.
Pillette is one of three board members who voted no on the new contract, with the five other board members voting in favor of the new salary.

Board President Anthony Fontana says he thinks the whole thing was a "set up."
"The other four board members, now three, have been committed to getting rid of the superintendent. No matter how good the policy might be, they would be against it to cast disfavor on the superintendent to prevent him from getting a contract," said Fontana, who also is an attorney. "The whole issue, from day one, was that they were not going to give him a contract."
This quote right here is the whole problem. To say something like that in an interview will take the gloves off the rest of them. Now it will be a free for all on a national news level, instead of just in the board meetings.

Yep.
I was waiting for this clown to say something stupid, and he did.
Maybe they should have approved a bigger salary for their PR person and lawyer...they are going to need good people to salvage this wreck.

frick this douche

"The marshal did his job. He went over there to settle it down. He couldn't settle it down. She's the one who made the choice to continue speaking," Fontana said. "He was taking her out. He wasn't arresting her. He was escorting her out, telling her don't come back tonight. It escalated out in the hall and she ended up getting arrested. "He did exactly what he was hired to do. He followed the procedures completely. She's the one who made the choices that got her arrested "
Fontana said he had to lock down the school board office Tuesday because of death threats. He said he had called police, the sheriff's office and the FBI about the threats.
"I told my staff not to answer the phone unless they knew who it was. My staff was scared to death, because they got a call that a man said he was on his way to the school board office, making threats," Fontana said.

Different animals. One is a private business. The other is a public body. Even then, there is a responsibility to act in a civil manner. It is not unreasonable to disagree in a public meeting unless things become uncivil. This wasn't the case.
The so-called resource officer might have been working for the School Board, but his arrest authority still comes from the City Marshall's office; otherwise, he's worthless. Consequently, whether they like it or not, the City Marshall's office could be vicariously exposed depending on the facts.
The guy did make a bad judgment. With that kind of judgment, he has no business wearing a badge or packing a weapon. If he's wearing a badge, he needs to be fired even though he was moonlighting. If it had been a white cop on a black teacher, imagine all the hell that would have flown. Since we're equal opportunity, we need to be equal responsibility. Hate that he did that, but there are simply some things that don't get forgiven in the eyes of the public. I hope he doesn't have a family. If he does, they are going to suffer financially due to his unwarranted reactions.

Think about it. It is a public forum not a closed meeting. This woman was asking a simple question about something that was on the agenda. In no way shape or form can she be legally removed.

How can people be against vouchers and school choice???

Because then all the good students want to go to the good schools and the bad schools just get worse??
How is it that damn near every school in Vermilion has an A or B rating, but other districts can't manage that?

It is always bad form to blame the victim. Especially in today's political climate. If the SJW's get a grip on this tonight, tomorrow will be interesting.
100 big, flannel-wearing mustached women in a Prius procession may be coming.

It won't be just the SJWs. Everyone with a bit of common sense and a seat below the Puyau's and Fontana's of the world can see that this situation is fricked up, and Fontana just keeps sticking his foot in his mouth.
