This is what I'm screaming. You can't see the board members in the video so who knows if one of them didn't signal the officer to do what he did. Wouldn't surprise me.

It will never be admitted that they did, if they in fact did. That would put them squarely in the line of blame, even more so than they already are.

One of them said something like, "That is enough." Just that right there was a que to shut her up, or get her out. Im sure a conversation took place before the meeting to remove any people stirring things up.

There was someone who said something about hand cuffs on the video, but by the sound of it, it was someone close to the person with the camera. Cant pin that on a board member.

Right BUT someone there in the audience SURELY saw if that happened right?? I mean I guess I'm saying that if the Marshall did what was told of him then he's in the clear (except we don't really know if he knocked her down in the hallway or if she slipped).

I'm just thinking that the crazy board members signaled the marshall to remove her.

The part about handcuffs is at about 8:30 in the video ... the voice that first mentions handcuffs is the same voice that says something about "yes he did" when someone asked if that was for real. I do NOT think anyone directed anyone to actually handcuff her. I think it was more of a statement that she HAD been then confirmation of that again.

Not really. If him removing her indeed violated some kind of right then he is still on the hook. Those board members can't tell someone, who is supposed to uphold the law to break it, and force him to do it. It would just put the board member more in the line of fire, if they told him to do it. It still falls back on the officer though.

Similar to the Utah nurse case. The officer got shite canned, even though he was following orders.

That officer needs retraining even if he was just following orders, because he threatened to arrest people that were recording him outside for “public intimidation.”

Give me a break! Everyone knew they had a right to record that situation taking place on public property and from a respectable distance. He had a bad feeling about what he was doing and didn’t want to be recorded.

If a board member had signaled the cop I'm sure Lebeouf would have been saying as loudly as she could, "Nah, really!! How you gonna tell de man to remove her in the middle of a sentence!! Meh, y'all wrong!!!"
If it was Anthony he would have banged on the gavel, announced the removal, adjourned the meeting, gone home & slept like a champ.
If you watch enough of the meetings it's obvious those 2 instigate about 99% of the shite that happens. I think they have a crush on each other...lol

Also I believe that will be Fontana's last meeting as President of the board. He is stepping down.

This may have been predetermined before this fiasco though.

HE is there as law enforcement. He is not there to take orders to remove anybody that pisses off some miniature demagogue. Under your theory, if told to shoot her, she would be dead.

He is just there if a law is broken. Roberts rules of order are not laws.

There are other videos coming out from different views. There’s a clip right after this incident happened of one of the board members talking about how women are treated in Vermillion Parish

Can you post them?

I just watched the clip from "The Talk." It was from a KATC camera, so apparently they were there as well.

The ACLU of Louisiana released a statement Tuesday afternoon, condemning the arrest of Hargrave. The statement reads:

Deyshia Hargrave’s expulsion from a public meeting and subsequent arrest are unacceptable and raise serious constitutional concerns. The Constitution prohibits the government from punishing or retaliating against people for expressing their views, and the fact that a schoolteacher was arrested at a public meeting of the school board is especially troubling. The ACLU of Louisiana will continue to investigate this incident and defend the constitutional rights of all Louisianans. We urge anyone whose rights have been violated to contact us.

quote:

The Louisiana Association of Educators, which Hargrave is a member of, also issued a statement about her arrest at the school board meeting:

LAE was informed of the situation involving Deyshia Hargrave since shortly after the incident occurred. She is, in fact, a member of our association, and our attorney, Mr. Brian Blackwell, is working with her on next steps - he has been since Monday (1/8) evening.

As an organization that advocates for the dedicated school employees of Louisiana, we firmly denounce the mistreatment of Ms. Hargrave, a loving parent and dedicated teacher serving the students of Vermilion Parish. It is every citizen’s right to speak up for their beliefs. Any action that infringes upon this right is unlawful and unacceptable.

We will continue to support the right of every single school employee to take an interest in, and ultimately stand up for, the best interests of their schools and their students.

Aside from these remarks, our association will honor Ms. Hargrave’s wishes and refrain from any additional comments at this time, as the case is ongoing.

Just reported on the news. Note worthy items stated:

- the teacher was at school today.

- News stated that Fontana instructed the Marshall to remove her.

- Fontana defended the actions of the Marshall. Said that she was interrupting the board meeting.

- Superintendent defended his raise, and the Marshall. Said he had not gotten a raise in 5 years and now he is more on par with other superintendents around the state.

FYI his salary was just posted on KATC .. right at $100,000 50something in the state. Acadia Parish was >$225,000. The raise would rank Puyau either 32 or 38 (can't remember).

Says he felt it was appropriate given the rankings jump (which is due to teachers not him - just my 2 cents) and that he hasn't had a raise since he started at Superintendent.
