Opened up Autotrader on my phone to check out the price of the Lexus my wife says looks nice and this used pickup popped up with a “Great Price” banner
I’m officially this used truck cost more than my first house years old. $131k for a 1700sqft house in Zachary back in 2003.

Stupid people pay stupid prices for shite just for appearances. Most of them will be sucking the government tit when they are older.

That is ridiculous.
That's both kids through college for me.

Yeah. Man up and tell your wife 'no'. Explain why. If she is. keeper she'll get it. If she is AIDS she will not.

Honest question, what does someone do and how much do they make to afford a $100K plus vehicle?

My line in the sand is $65,000.
As a kid Magnum PI Red Ferrari cost $65k. It was 1984 but damn. To think that’s just a run of the mill Ford pick up now.

If your wife wants a Lexus why are you looking at Raptors?

When I needed one I bought a base model F150 2 wheel drive STX, list 48k.
It did have a 2” lift and leveling kit plus a bedliner added, I’m planning on driving it 10 plus years.
Paid cash

To be responsible, total value of ALL of your vehicles should be 50% or less of your household take home pay.
Since nobody does that anymore, I suppose the answer, "They can afford it if the bank will issue the loan."
Silly, but with the enshittification of everything, that's the world we live in.

It was an ad before I even started the search.
She’s currently driving a 2014 Camry with 130k miles on it, I’m not in a hurry to buy anything. I was just curious what the Lexus would cost.

Calm down Dylan Mulvaney. She just mentioned that she likes the look of them.

As long as folks keep walking into dealerships and buying, there's no reason for the auto manufacturers to change their pricing.
Paying $136k for a 1/2 ton pickup truck doesn't make much sense to me, but to each his own.

Yes they are. I thought they would come down after Covid however, manufacturers saw an opening and never dropped them back down. Now we’ve got tarriffs on the competition, so there is. no reason to expect them to drop down again.

People keep voting with their wallets and it screws every sensible person out there. This doesnt project well. A vehicle being a status symbol has screwed the rest of people who dont give a crap what others think and are ok w point A to point B. I dont even see junkers anymore, and Im in Florida. That is bizarre.
