Recently dropped a nice chunk for repairs to my paid off retirement vehicle. No way on planet earth would I purchase such a thing...our home - purchased in 1990 was much cheaper

You misunderstood. A person making $4k a month should have no more than $24k in cars. Total. The note is just a financing decision.

You got two vehicles that should serve you well for 10 years or more if you keep them.
I have two 20+ year old Toyotas, a Camry and a Tundra. Paid cash for the Tundra, inherited the Camry. Both run great, both are cheap to maintain. Both crank when I turn the key and both blow cold (all original AC). The wife has a newer and nicer Volvo, but we use the old Toyotas the most. Spending lots of money on a depreciating asset or interest is not something I like to do.

Regular Raptors are MSRP. I just bought one in July. Rs sticker for $115K and dealers mark them up by $30k. I would’ve paid MSRP for the R and I even offered $6k over, but frick paying dealer markup. Very happy with my regular Raptor.

Wife drives a 2024 Tahoe we had a 2020 Acadia Denali with not even 30k miles we traded in then. Made the decision based on where prices were going, Acadia was paid for made a 8-10 year decision on vehicle.
I drive a small suv , its a company car and can use it for personal use. All expenses paid I will drive it proudly.
No way if I had 2 notes would I be driving a truck are SUV. Just wouldn’t be responsible

All cars and trucks are globally sourced now from the same top 30 or so global suppliers. The most American content vehicle you can buy, the Tesla Model 3 Performance, is only 75% US sourced parts. F150s are a mix depending on options, can be up to 60% US parts or as low as 24% (Lightning).
FWIW, of all automakers, Ford employs the most people in CONUS. IIRC GM is second, and one of either Toyota or Honda is 3rd. May be wrong on #3 but you needed a HW assignment.
WRT to tariffs, the main focus has been on assembled vehicles for two reasons:
1. There is presently a ruinous price war going on between the 100+ Chinese OEMs that will probably leave no more that 2-3 of them standing. Any market that doesn't block that spillover will end up with a massive junkyard of cars from long gone OEMs in 10 years and no domestic production to speak of.
2. The Euros charge a higher tariff on a Mercedes made in Alabama than they do on Chinese vehicles made in China, which has needed correcting for decades.
Some key parts such as electronic control modules are being forced back onshore via tariffs and other regulations to avoid things like Chinese SW backdoors in US vehicles. Other parts chains are gradually being pushed back here because we're going to need the jerbs when AI puts all of you out of work.

I’ve got a 23 Tesla MP3 and it’s a great little daily driver. It’s my company car so I don’t pay insurance but have to pay the note which I get most of it covered with my car package. I’m about to pay it off and bank that money for the next 5 to 6 years and use it for a down payment for another one. My company car is the one I keep 8-10 years.

An R would be fun, but yeah they’re so expensive and impractical. I imagine the maintenance costs are high and I know they only get about 10mpg on premium. Crazy to think people are spending $50k more than a regular Raptor. I’m thankful the dealer rejected my $121k offer.

Best American P/U trucks were made between 2000-2006. The vortec engine by Chevy was very reliable
