Insure the car under your name, pray they don't wreck.

3 teenage boys 16,18,19
All with state farm
All have older trucks, 2001, 2004, 2013 with high mileage.

I pay $68, $115, and $238 per month, all with high limits(500k, 250k) b/c I carry an umbrella. Really not that bad.

The nicer the car the higher the cost, I carry colision and comp but with high deductable($1000). The $238 went up $120 from a few months ago due to an accident. Get the "drive safe and save ap", it saves us a lot of money..also good student helps a ton too.

my agent does some voodoo on the assigned drivers though, meaning she assigns the kid to the car that yields the cheapest premium, and I am listed as primary on all of them...

I'm sure that's a huge part of the problem. And no politician or anyone in any law enforcement capacity wants to do a damn thing about it.

I wonder what the percentage in this state is of uninsured drivers.

We just found the cheapest we could get. In this case Geico , under our name and just listed him as a driver. Insurance is about 135.

WAG would be 30% uninsured and 30% underinsured, leaving the rest of us to pay their claims or ours when they crash and call G-man.

It's fricking legalized theft. Insurance payment is damn near the same as his car note. I'm sure lots of people are on the verge of just not paying.

Can't renew registration without proof of insurance. My parents insurance went up by $317 a month to add me to their plan. It would've cost me $475 a month if I purchased on my own as a 20 yo.

Whatever your current rate is, just go ahead and double it. Especially if adding another vehicle.

Not true across the board. That was the max, not everyone’s went up 17%

They applied for a 17% rate increase.
It was approved.

Correct, but not all policies are subject to the same rate increase. Better risk means less of a rate increase
