It was running perfectly. I stopped at a gas station. I had to go inside to get vape and a swisher sweet and a scratch-off. Exiting my vehicle, there was an abnormal sound under my hood (l left the car running). It's hard to describe the sound, but it was very concerning and off-putting. When I came back out, fortunately the sound was gone, car still running fine and blowing air, but the air was no longer cold.

What am I looking at to fix this on a 2015 2.4L Cherokee?

You’d be better off sticking that vape up your arse, but sure, worry about the AC.

probably ac compressor clutch. compressors aren't hard to change. problem is you have to remove and replace refrigerant.

I love these questions. Are you that clueless and really think we can give you an accurate answer based on the info you gave?

Almost like a bad belt, but more disturbing. Like metal on metal sounds.

I’m impressed that thing still runs to be honest. Those things have one of the worst reliability ratings on the road.

Worst case would be the compressor locked up.

You need to be sure all of the belts are on the front of the engine before you drive any more.

In 11 years I've only had to replace the thermostat, radiator, and fuel pump. I don't know what went wrong with the radiator. It was fine. Went on vacation in another vehicle, came back home to a pool of radiator fluid in my driveway under the vehicle.

The fuel pump pissed me off. The car was only a couple years old when that went out, it cost a lot of money.

New compressor and vacuuming the system. $1500 at a garage.
