60 a month and that's the first thing I did. Sorry I have a savings account and a back up plan to not have to be more extreme.

So Deer Park didn't lock out? How many people are we talking striking here if 100 have crossed the line?

How does crossing the kind actually work as far as pay whatnot? .
Thanks for the answers gents.

If they did, it was lifted. The USW officials themselves confirmed that people crossed at Deer Park, and I don't blame them one bit. They've been on strike for weeks while these other sites just went on strike.

The way this is being handled by the union is bullshite.

I think Deer Park is about 5-700 workers.

Is the Union offering any type of aid/assistance to those out of work that you know of? I'm hearing different rumors. Basically, they will step in if you are about to lose something (house, car, etc)., but that's about it.

This is funny
quote:

But a memo sent to Motiva employees, and signed by company President and CEO Dan Romasko, said the sticking point "is not safety, fatigue, health care or even wages, as the union claims." Instead, the memo said that USW's central issue "is their insistence that we replace routine maintenance contractors with USW-represented employees," according to a copy of the memo provided to NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune.

So basically the usw is fricking all its members so it can get more members?

Deer Park is a little better than 800.

From what I have heard, Union members are not getting after hours callouts. instead those callouts are going to contractors like Turner. The union employees are mad because they are missing out on overtime monies while contractors are cleaning up.

The way everything is handled by a union is bullshite. Keep paying them dues

The sooner everyone realizes that every move a union makes these days is to increase membership, the better off everyone will be

Yeah that's about all they will do. They'll pay a light bill or something if it's about to be shut off or something but that's pretty much it.

Yeah shell sent out a similar email as well, with a copy of the contract attached at like 3:55pm Saturday.

Everyone knows that is a huge issue with the union and why they are holding negotiations.

Varies on income, but it has a cap. I think the max they will take is $120 per check.

That's a fricking joke. We are about to go into shutdown and the union has and 2 months to hire up for it, come Thursday they start pulling at packages because they can't man the shutdown. This after repeatedly telling us it wouldn't be a problem and we didn't need to carve out anything for the merit shops.
