Rumor mill: shell Norco got a strike schedule today.
That's straight from an operator's mouth.

I think all that is just to make its way back to staff people and get them nervous. National isn't going to let on who is next to walk until the official 24 hr notice. I have been hearing Norco is next since Sunday, but no one knows for sure.

Update- offer was given to USW yesterday by Shell. USW will not respond until today.
Further walkouts may be ordered at some of the other refineries and chemical plants the USW represents if there is no progress in the talks, the union has said.
Leaks have been reported at Tesoro in CA and Marathon- Texas City Galveston Bay (old BP plant)

Reports are showing up of workers crossing the line at the Brinderson refinery. I think it is a Tesoro. That didn't take long.

I can remember when all we paid was 200/month and $20 copay
Those days are gone. My mom works for the state and they wen from no deductible and $25 co-pay to $5,000 deductible and 80/20. You insurance is better than that because it is $5,000 just for her. My brother's went from $110/mo and $1500 deductible to $365/mo and a $3500 deductible on the individual market. Your union screwed you by backing Obamacare and now Obamacare is screwing the unions.

The problem lies in the unique multiemployer health plans that cover unionized workers in retail, construction, transportation and other industries with seasonal or temporary employment. Known as Taft-Hartley plans, they are jointly administered by unions and smaller employers that pool resources to offer more than 20 million workers and family members continuous coverage, even during times of unemployment.
The union plans were already more costly to run than traditional single-employer health plans. The Affordable Care Act has added to that cost -- for the unions' and other plans -- by requiring health plans to cover dependents up to age 26, eliminate annual or lifetime coverage limits and extend coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.
I don't have a clue about the other issues but don't try and act like the employers are screwing over the employees on healthcare because it was the unions that screwed yall and yall still have it better than most.

Union rejects 6th offer
quote:
"The USW instructed the local unions in the National Oil Bargaining Program to reject Shell's 6th offer, which was given Wednesday night," USW spokeswoman Lynne Hancock said. "Negotiations are in recess pending data that the union has requested."
Talks will resume when the union gets the information it is requesting, Hancock said.

Yeah, they aren't going to elicit sympathy from anyone on this board about health care costs.
They are just showing that they are completly clueless about what everybody has been paying for years.
They should complain about the candy selection in the snack machines and how the Cokes aren't really "that cold",

You have cheap insurance. Please stop complaining

It depends USW decides which locations go out National negoations is for everyone at every location it sets the standard . Local contracts are on hold till National decides if they will accept. Chevron , Marathon , Exxon, BP, Shell all have other locations which will be coming up March 1 for contract negoations. You can have a accepted national contract and still have a strike on a local contract.
