Reports are showing up of workers crossing the line at the Brinderson refinery. I think it is a Tesoro. That didn't take long.

That shows you how clueless management is towards safety if they are letting union members cross the picket line.

So after how many days will they instruct another round of plants to go on strike?

They are pushing this Saturday as being some National Day of Action. May hear a few plants give their 24 hr notice and walk out on Sunday.

These would be the plants now on rolling 24hr extensions since feb. 1 .which would be the ones who would walk this weekend .USW already knows which plants they will have walk out it is part of the strategy they are using.

Sounds like a load of BS to me. I think the union is realizing they aren't as strong as they once were. No way workers want to walk out... Too many live from paycheck to paycheck.

That shows how many live paycheck to paycheck and need to work. When the USW continually rejects multiple offers it shows their desire to strike and just how much they don't care about their members.

They missed a paycheck? Worst case a worker missed 4 days of work at this point and zero paychecks.

Your right! Worse case is 4 days best case 3 if runnin DuPont schedule no one is to the point of losing a check. Time stopped midnight 1201 feb 1 depending on location the union workers will be getting paid feb 6 or 13. Now the end of the month check is what will hit them with nothing if they do not return by Monday . But remember this is national contract currently fighting ,there is still the local issues which are on hold and no one is meeting. The union members on strike can stay out if the local issues have not been resolved .

I would be surprised if any refinery offered the opportunity to cross the line yet. Would honestly surprise me.

I know where I used to work there was a contingency plan in place to bus in a skeleton crew from other non union plants to work in our union plant if there was ever a strike. If the workers went on strike they got $100 a week for however long the strike lasted.

Needless to say there never has been one yet.

From the link in the post yes the national called for BP to walk tonight at 12:00. The comment made about Exxon was merely looking at all the refineries currently who are on strike . If you look at the list now the only ones left in the top tier of the largest refineries who have not went out is Exxon and Chevron. This is why I said only a matter of time if something is not resolved .

Not giddy by any means. I want everyone back to work as quickly as possible , but I understand what they are fighting for. The news keeps showing "double wages" the total is 6% of total the first year would be for a operator let's say at $38 hr before taxes on 80 hrs $6080 a month $72960 a yr. the 6% for the increase would be $4,377.60 comes out to $364.80 a month for a total of $77337.60 (all the rates before taxes). Now anyone who has a family and is paying high deductibles and taxes would come home with maybe $65-68 this on the high side. Does anyone see the union getting this amount "No" maybe 2.5%. But remember if the union is able to get raises and changes to fatigue this also affects non-union employees as well. As far as the President comment " he is in no way my President" never has been and damn sure did not vote for him.

frick what they want. Raises should be based on performance.

Busy with meetings yesterday I wasn't able to make note that I watched yet another protest outside the Lyondell Basell building. frickers need to pipe down. I'm trying to do my job up here so I can get a performance raise.
