USPS is a disaster right now

I don't know what has changed over the last two months, as they were typically pretty reliable up until about mid-June.
They're now taking 5 days to put accepted packages into the system now. A 3-day delivery is now taking damn near 14 days.
Every time I see an item is being shipped USPS I just prepare for a lengthy wait.

I agree, when I check tracking I have been getting a lot of "item is still arriving but will be late"

Oh you haven't heard? Trump appointed a new postmaster general. No overtime allowed and he has been decommissioning working mail sorting machines from branches all over the US.
Trump-backed postmaster general plans to slow mail delivery
quote:
“Overtime will be eliminated…If the plants run late they will keep the mail for the next day,” reads an internal memo reviewed by Fortune. “If we cannot deliver all the mail due to call offs or shortage of people and you have no other help, the mail will not go out.”
The memo warns that “this is the first wave of changes that will be coming to USPS this year,” and that “we all must have a different mindset to keep the USPS alive.” The memo points to Bethlehem Steel, GM, and Packard Electric (all corporations, not public services) as companies that faltered because they “did not want to change and be profitable.”

Who's in charge of USPS now? I forget.

I shipped probably 150 things out over the last couple months, all with USPS.
The only delay I encountered was shipping something into NYC a couple months ago, assumed it was due to the riots.

They have picked up the same mantra as countless others:
Due to COVID we have found an excuse to offer a substandard level of service.

Lazy government employees managed by an inept, under-qualified donor boss.

Prepping for mail in ballots to be lost or late and not counted

Who just so happens to be a mega Trump donor. The donor, errr, new postmaster general, fired or reassigned 24 USPS executives last Friday.
Interesting this is all happening as Trump screams about mail-in voting, eh?

Trump's megadonor made administrative changes.

I have no problem with USPS. Thousands of deliveries never a problem. FedEx, meanwhile, just didn't deliver an item, said they did, filed a case and it's total BS with them.

This is definitely Obama’s fault

Yes. Thank you, President Trump, for starving this one welfare program, even if you can't get to the rest. I will gladly wait indefinitely for my Steak-n-Shake coupons, solicitations from random State Farm agents, and random updates to the IRS website privacy policy.

He's just trying to trim the fat, guys. It's not like he's got any conflicts of interest, right? Right? Guys?

USPS has sucked balls for a while now.

So, he's trying to fix a broken, antiquated system that is a money drain on the taxpayers of the country.
