The problem isn't the prefunding of benefits, it's the length of time they have to have covered, which no one else has to have

Exactly. USPS is a service. No one is screaming that the militaty or FBI or anything else being 'profitable'. The destruction of the USPS is soley for the benefit of a couple of companies that compete with it. The users of the USPS (everyone) will be the ones that get screwed in the long run.

Same experience here. Bought some brake pads online. Took 14 days to receive something that was originally 7 hours away. Sat for days at some points not being touched.

I actually think what USPS is being forced to do, is what every other government agency and private company should be forced to do.
But USPS is the only one.
If other government agencies / private companies were forced to do this, things would look a LOT different.
