There's no comparison to watching the men play compared to the women. It's basically two different sports.
Yes. The women actually try to score while the men kick the ball backwards all game in hopes of a 0-0 tie.

The Women's Nation team cant even compete with the US Boys U17 team.

USWNT players get a bonus $1,350 for a win in a friendly, whether it is against a top ten team or not. It appears nothing is written in for a bonus in the case of a tie or a loss.
USMNT players get a $5,000 bonus for a loss, $6,250 for a tie ($8,125 against a top ten team or Mexico), and anywhere from $9,375 to $17,625(top ten or Mexico) for a win.
If someone makes the USWNT World Cup roster, they get a bonus of $15,000. Someone making the USMNT World Cup roster gets a bonus of $68,750.
USWNT players get $$20k for a 3rd place finish, $32.5k for 2nd, and $75k for winning. USMNT players can earn $1.25m for a 3rd place finish, $6.25m for 2nd and $9.375 for winning. This is separate from the amount they get as they advance through each round.
Per diem is $50 domestic/$60 international for USWNT players, and $62.50/$75 for USMNT players.
I think this is what the USWNT players are suing for. The incentives are a bit skewed, especially since US Soccer probably expects the USWNT to make it to a WC final each and every time, whereas they do not with the USMNT. The Deadspin article covers it a little more in detail than the Mickey Mouse version at ESPN:

At issue is whether the players and U.S. Soccer have a valid collective bargaining agreement. The last CBA expired in 2012, and the sides signed a memorandum of understanding in 2013. The USWNT wants to dissolve that MOU, while U.S. Soccer maintains it constitutes a binding contract that runs through the end of 2016. U.S. Soccer preemptively filed suit earlier this year, seeking a federal court to confirm the status quo; the USWNT is fighting it. That case remains pending.
The demand is simple: the women want equal pay, and if they won’t get it in a CBA (something USSF has indicated is not on the table, according to the players’ lawyer Jeffrey Kessler), they’ll seek redress under their civil rights.

Let's set up a men versus women's game. If the women win, they get more. Equality.
Maybe they should beat teens first. The U17 team has destroyed them and they (USWNT) have lost to a few U15 boy's club teams in closed scrimmages. The men's team would be able to name the score against the women. As good and as dominate as the women are in their sport, the speed and power of the men's team would be like watching a Jr High Baseball team try and play against the Astros.

They should. The men are playing against well established countries that breed soccer plays and it is their one and only sport. Here its anywhere from 3-5th most important. All of the mens best athletes pursue other sports for the most part.
The USWNT are playing against teams where women dont even have rights. shite some countries dont even let them field a team, yet ours are bitching bc they want more pay for beating teams with players who probably didnt have shoes a few years ago. They have the best practicing facilites in the world.

I wonder what the difference in TV ratings is for comparable matches. Friendly vs. friendly, qualifying vs. qualifying, WC group vs. WC group.

Also, someone posted the World Cup revenue for both teams, but that is just as misleading as the figures cited in the lawsuit. It should be discussed based on profitability, not revenue.
You don't figure profitability without paying your employees.
But surely you can't even begin to argue that the bottom lines are even relatively close.
But if someone were to measure "profitability" without paying players, then the men's is way higher and therefore an equal % would result in higher #s for the men.
This suit should 've thrown out, period.
Again, it's like comparing the WNBA to the NBA.

exactly. not that i disagree with his point, but that comparison was just awful.
playing a sport is now equal to going to other countries to fight a war under orders?

Because soccer is 'vastly more popular' there and kids play soccer as soon as they can run -- what's that supposed to mean to me?
That they generate talented players at a higher rate. Seriously retard, go look at where the best 25% of world class soccer players come from.

So, what's your argument again? We're supposed to struggle against these teams because they have the same ability to start playing soccer as we do?
We struggle because we don't field the level of raw talent they do. It's simple to understand for those with at least a room temp IQ, guess you have problems there.

USWNT > USMNT and it's not even close.

Considering the USMNT has only made it to the Quarterfinals once since 1930 and the USWNT has never finished outside of the top 3, I'd say that favors the women.

I don't understand why they don't just don't pay athletes based on the amount of revenue they bring in. Last year, the men brought in 4x as much revenue as the women did so the men deserved to paid 4x more than the women. This year, the USWNT is projected to bring in a little bit more money so the women should get paid more than the men this year. It's not that hard.

Because you're ignoring many factors which have been mentioned in this thread.

WC Gold medal game vs. WC Gold medal game? Oh wait that hasn't happened yet. But:
2015 WWC final against Japan= 26.7 million viewers between Fox and Telemundo.
2014 MWC game against Portugal= 24.7 million on ESPN and Univision. The largest metered viewership for a single USMNT game.
2014 MWC Final between Germany and Argentina= 26.5 million on ABC and Univision.

You're right. Somebody made a point that the women just had their World Cup last year. That does tend to skew numbers quite a bit.
