I don't know why they get paid a dime. Whatever happened to being proud to represent your country.

"In this day and age, it's about equality. It's about equal rights. It's about equal pay. We're pushing for that. We believe now the time is right because we believe it's our responsibility for women's sports and specifically for women's soccer to do whatever it takes to push for equal pay and equal rights. And to be treated with respect."

Among the numbers cited in the EEOC filing are that the women would earn $99,000 each if they won 20 friendlies, the minimum number they are required to play in a year. But the men would likely earn $263,320 each for the same feat, and would get $100,000 even if they lost all 20 games. Additionally, the women get paid nothing for playing more than 20 games, while the men get between $5,000 and $17,625 for each game played beyond 20.

Then you're retarded.

I'm sure they're still proud, but would also like to earn a living playing for their country.
Using your argument, should those in the military not get paid for their service, and just be happy with being proud to serve their country?

Bc FIFA makes a mountain of money off this tournament through sponsorships. Are you saying the players don't deserve a share of that?

It isn't free to watch them play, so I don't see why they should play for free.
As for the lawsuit itself, it may have some merit, but it is also a bit hypocritical. I doubt people like Abby Womack and Alex Morgan are sharing their endorsement money equally among their teammates. The men and women should be paid according to their value. If the men bring in more money, they should make more, and vice versa.

It's like they don't understand that there is so much more revenue on the men's side. I'm all for equal pay, but they aren't providing an equal service.

You forgot this figure baw. They have a case in my opinion.
quote:
The filing, citing figures from the USSF's 2015 financial report, says that despite the women's team generating nearly $20 million more revenue last year than the U.S. men's team, the women are paid almost four times less.

The players deserve a share of what their portion brings in. They shouldn't dip into the men's portion. As the article says, women aren't getting a fair cut of their tournament so they deserve more

Don't care what the article says. That's the bottom line.
ETA: I'll assume you're talking about this

And counter with that being a a clearly deceitful number to use. Of course the year that women had their World Cup they would generate more revenue. How'd they do in 2014 when the men had theirs? Or any other year besides once every 4 years?

Do you have an issue with women? Why would you refer to them in this way for simply wanting to be paid what they're worth?

But then, the Women's team is actually successful on the field.

Lol
I'm sure the WNBA will file suit shortly so they can get paid like Lebron.
