Florida was the fastest growing state on the list. Quit coping, Louisiana is a shithole ran by incompetent shitbags that were elected by shitbags.

People are leaving because Louisiana has terrible public schools, corrupt politicians, areas with opportunity for work are overrun with crime and now due to the eroding coast its more expensive to live than Mississippi and Alabama. Higher COL for an equal or worse place to live than surrounding states

Honestly, it’s more than the high flood insurance and lack of job opportunities. Louisiana is just a boring state with no scenery or significant amenities that make people want to live there.

There are other places with high crime, high COL, and lack of job opportunities yet they have an amenity that makes people want to live there. Miami is a perfect example of that

Your President declared war on coal.

The next guy loves beautiful clean coal. So there is hope for WV.

We are a socially conservative welfare state. The worst of both parties.

The state is run by a morbidly obese coal baron, who also owns the Greenbrier resort, who is grifting off the state and not combatting the opiod epidemic nor is he trying to make WV desirable for people to live there.
Like other states it's controlled by GOP and they are stripping schools, universities and peoples human rights away to appease a MAGA voters. That's what it is. That's the hard truth. Who wants to live in any state where your freedoms are taken away?

I am one of the those people who left Louisiana in my mid 20’s in search of greener pastures. Landed on my feet in another state with the idea that I would move back to Louisiana at some point with my family still being there.

5 years later I have a wife and kid in Kentucky. This area feels like a place that is on the rise with a better quality of life for my kids than they would get in Louisiana. As sad as it is for me to say it, it’s hard to see a scenario where we end up back in Louisiana.

West Virginia is the most underrated state in the country from a natural beauty standpoint. Parts of it are pretty methy though. I could live there happily though.

My wife is WV born and raised. It’s a sad state. Beautiful, but a disaster.

Our ex governor bragged about how good he was doing as people ran for the borders.
They tout the movie credits, the big construction projects and the economic growth from all those tax loopholes, but at the end of the day money leaves the state followed our best and brightest.

And then we have people like mayor Broome who can’t police the streets or provide for economic growth keep EBR down.

The stats don’t lie.

I spent 2 months in the fine town of Ripley for work. I enjoyed it but the whole place shut down at 6pm.

The area was beautiful though.

West Virginia coal industry is dying and they have very little to replace it. It’s a beautiful state though and great to visit.

Same reason people leave Louisiana, opportunity for industries not tied to oil or lawyers.

No.

Not saying we don’t have problems but that combined with the other contributions is why we are losing more than other southern states.

Mississippi, Texas. Alabama, and Florida ALL are hit with hurricanes as often. Yes, I get that because LA is the mouth of the river our land is lower and flatter than many of those areas. But they too are hit with hurricanes
