THAT’S your fricking hot take on this issue??? Not how absolutely fricking retarded this is or that they have no merit to kick and scream about equal anything, because they’re not

You liberals have lost your fricking minds. Nothing, absolutely nothing that y’all fight and champion for makes any logical sense to anyone with a fricking brain. Y’all don’t want equal opportunity, y’all want equal results, which is pretty absurd when you think about it

But I already know your next response. You won’t address the meat and potatoes of this issue, you’ll nitpick one minute detail about something i or someone else said while completely ignoring how fricking stupid y’all are

IMO a big issue with soccer in the US is Title IX nonsense that basically forces a lot of colleges to 86 men's soccer. I'm hoping that men's soccer becomes too popular to ignore though, and they find somewhere else to cut men's scholarships or a new sport to add more women's scholarships.

The elite men's soccer players, by the time they are 18, are part of development programs either through the national team, MLS, and/or club teams in other countries.

If you thought the best HS baseball players go straight to pro baseball, that is nothing compared to men's soccer.

This is stupid.

We are Americans, we should pay based on results.

So the Women's team should be paid well and the Men's team, well, they deserve minimum wage for their minimum results.

The "results" are that the men bring in substantially more revenue.

The men make the vast majority of their money playing for their clubs.

Crazy that you give people financial advice with takes this bad.

Lighten up Francis.

The reality is we DON'T pay for results. We pay based upon revenue produced... and the men's team, on the whole, produces far more revenue.

But I think there is a reason the men agreed to this.

The men on the national team get far more of their income from their club teams and from endorsements.

The pay they get from the national team is peanuts compared to that.

By them taking a pay cut on the national team... it's not really hurting them overall. They get to look "woke". And I would not be surprised if this new contract says something about them having to practice less / have less commitments for the national team.

Probably not. They do put butts in seats and sell jerseys on par with men's team historically.

I honestly don't GAF. I hope they both succeed, but let's not act like the Men's teams has ever been as close comeptively and even some years had less viewership as the women.

Bottom line men need to get their shite together on the field and the women need to stop bitching about pay that they collectively agreed to.

And endorsements, etc.

It would be as if a Saints player and a Saintsation both went to a golf tournament to sign autographed pictures. The tournament is playing the Saints player $500 and the Saintsation $50.

The Saints player then says... nah... why don't you both pay us $275.

The Saints player gets to feel all proud of himself while not really missing that $225... while the Saintsation who gets paid crap will appreaciate that extra $225.

The men made an average of about $250k per year from the national team from what I understand. Pulisic, who is by far the best player and one of the only players in a huge league, makes like $8/year from his club.

That's 5% salary from the by far highest earner on the team. Some of these guys are liking looking at 15-25% of their on field earnings coming from the national team. So, no, it's not peanuts.

Eta: and the Federation subsidizes the women's league, which makes this even more bullshite. They are paying their national and league salaries both directly and indirectly

So we should drop all their salaries. The men are garbage anyway and the women get beat by youth all star teams.

It’s my hottest take because I ultimately don’t really care that much. I watch soccer for entertainment, and what the players are making doesn’t have much bearing on that.

Not that I was ever a fan before, but this group of ungrateful cünts has made sure I will never watch a US women's soccer game again.

The economics of this have the potential to ruin the mens national team. But no worries as they are all equal now even though one brings in substantially more
