Have become sort of a friend who is the postal deliverable for my condo development. She says that the union runs each office; the facility manager is basically a figure head.. Several yrs ago the P.O. administration spent $100,000 for cameras on facilities in the major cities around the country. They were placed in the employee parking lots. To prevent employee thefts..

When the Vietnam vets at USPS started retiring, everything started going to shite, at least in the burbs of Houston (Richmond, Rosenberg, etc.)

It's all over now. We ordered a Christmas present. Tracked it all the way to our local post office, where it disappeared. Someone there decided to make it their present.

I remove USPS as a shipping option whenever I list anything on eBay. I hate selecting UPS or Fedex and getting "USPS last mile" delivery.

I mean, USPS charges you $1 to deliver stamps you buy directly from them.

Dumb bitch did this with an estimated tax payment of mine to State of La a few years back (broke into the mailbox outside the Post Office [this was before the USPS admitted that someone had stolen a master key that unlocked ALL mailboxes]). Dumbass deposited the check via her mobile app into her Jefferson Parsh Credit Union account.

I couldn’t get the fill in mail lady to take stamped letters the other day. She said she couldn’t take that kind of mail.

Tell her there’s a Visa gift card in it.

the bank stated they would not be sharing the videos without a court order. Makes me think it was an inside job and they were protecting their reputation.

I hope you changed banks and let them know why.

It has become a full blown epidemic in our area. It was less prevalent before, now its to the point where the police are throwing their hands in the air and saying theres nothing we can even do - it’s happening inside the post offices themselves. Mostly inside jobs.

Yep! Two years ago, I mailed my GA tax return from Atlanta. Scumbags intercepted it via USPS (common issue there I found out later), used the tax return and check info to open a fake Truist account- jointly in my name- and transferred $180k ($90k x2) to another external Truist account. Caught it when the scum called me pretending to be from Truist. Insaine how close I was to losing a chit load of dough.
Do not trust USPS with your sensitive info or anything of value.

I'm starting to see the Federal government is a jobs program for African American women. And really most government in general. If you need to interact with the administrative side of government, there will be a nice AA lady with a degree from a prestigious HBC that will be your gateway to the assistance you need.

No shock that people on this board would have a problem with this. Yall always tell on yourselves.

I’ve had a PO Box for 40 years and for the most part haven’t had many problems other than the one clerk working with a long line and other workers milling around.

But what does Lisa me off is USPS has removed all mailboxes around the city including the ones outside of the actual post office building because a group out of Lafayette had stolen keys and were stealing the mail.

There is no way in hell they can’t figure out how to develop a relatively safe locking mechanism for the boxes.

I never would’ve thought about USPS worker “washing” checks. We really only write one check a month that we put in the mail so the odds aren’t great that’s what happened.

It’s definitely the USPS workers. We’ve had it happen several times at work over the years. Germantown detective told me people pay postal workers $X per envelope that looks like it has a check in it. Pretty easy to spot a business check in the mail since most work envelopes have windows on them

Checks are archaic - they literally list your account info on them which could be entered online in a million places to boot. Check washing is a $1B scam at least in the US and noone can find the folks committing the crimes, seems like most of them are illegals in certain areas.

The entire financial services industry still relies on them. It’s insane that in today’s age, if I’m doing a rollover for a client, they have to mail a $250k+ check to the customer, then I have to pick it up and mail it to our home office. The opportunity for fraud is massive.

He said archaic, and he's right. You can add an external account for transfers, and the target account has no ability to "do" anything to your account without you initiating it.

But I'm sure you share passwords, blowing up the potential of non repudiation for electronic transactions, right? And you realize most wives, particularly military wives, are experts at forging their husbands signatures, right?

What protection do you think you have?
