Kids are expensive these days. There's less people buying homes now. Also, SJW values are quite pervasive among the millenial generation. SJW hates religion of any kind, hates traditional family values, hates a traditional job, etc.

Just look at the most popular shows on TV, and most of them are not a reflection of the traditional families.

Before:

Growing Pains
Family Matters
Full House
The Wonder Years
Home Improvement
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Roseanne
Sister-Sister
Married with Children
Boy Meets World

Lots of shows that depict traditional family values to an extent.

Now:

Kardashians
The Voice
The Bachelor
HGTV Shows where you renovate a home
Crime Shows

What's the big deal? Feminism? SJWs? Far left? Far right?

I honestly believe it's the rise and dominance of Social Media. It has changed and warped an entire generations mindsets. People see all these posts about happiness and bullshite and it makes them hate their own life or think they could have it better. But no one posts the shitty times on Facebook.

That along with the entitled protest culture we're living in. Just look at that "million woman" feminist march a few weeks ago. There was absolutely no point to it. At all. But social media was a buzz like crazy with ignorant nonsensical posts about keep your laws off my body, etc... The problem is there has been no legislation at all affecting women's rights. There were bitching just to bitch.

They had a Portlandia episode where this couple that barely knew each other went on a trip. They followed the couple through the most uncomfortable terrible trip and at the end they broke up, but during the trip they posted to Facebook and Instagram some nice pictures.

If you just looked at the social media you'd think they had a wonderful romantic trip, but it reality it was terrible and they didn't even stay together.

Same basic principle.

The dregs of society are not responsible and are breeding like rabbits in comparison. A demographic tidal wave is incoming

Well that's a problem with the dregs, not the people choosing not to marry/have kids. More specifically, I think it's a problem with government assistance programs. If people had to pay for everything their child needed with their own money, you'd see a quick shift in those demographics in the positive direction

The real problem is trying to avoid a score-long or more Japanese-style lost decade type of economic squeeze. Imagine the politics of the last fifteen years and then throw in a collapsing or severely contracting economy.

Even delaying getting married and having kids later has extraordinarily deleterious effects on our society and culture. Virtually everything we've ever known from sociology and economics will tell you that it's a shite path. A pretty good analogy is to think of it like liquidity in a financial market: more liquidity (a quicker generational churn) means that it is a well-functioning market and true economic gains and costs can be assessed more accurately and more quickly than in a dysfunctional market (what we essentially have right now).

Cliffs?

I've read this before but I've never seen a good explanation as to why it's so bad.

I'm going to do what benefits me personally, not what benefits society. That's the most basic concept of economics.

That's the basic concept of modern economics. We have advanced rapidly over a century. Marriage is no longer a necessity.

Essentially, the argument (legitimate, IMO) is that the cycle of generational reproduction sustains economic growth. If you have a new generation of producers and consumers every 25 years (India or China until the last decade) instead of every 40 years (Japan since about 1990), your economic health will be deterministically better than your longer generation counter-part. Stretching out generations is not good for national and social robustness.

That path is not getting married and not having kids. At least thats what the main idea seems to be. As it is the US will be 30% Islamic in 40 years.

I don't deny that at all. shite, I am personally well within my peak marriage years and am neither married nor have kids, so I am as big a theoretical hypocrite as anyone on this, but I recognize historical and economic and social indicators when I see them.

This is an argument about economic incentives and social pressure and everything else under the sun involved in this, not religious absolutism.

Or, you have no game. I've never had trouble talking to women at a bar. It's a matter of whether or not what they have to offer interests me.

As much as you hear this, within my close friend circle (23-25) theres a real chance every one being married within a year or so.
