Again. They're are some really nice neighborhoods with large houses. I was in Carmel yesterday and there were a ton of double lot houses. It felt like Ormond.

Plus the house prices are much lower. So for the price of a shotgun in mud city you can have a 3,000 sqft house

You can have a beer or glass of wine on your patio in Ormond between 9-12 PM and never hear a gunshot. At Carmel the over/under is about 20 shots any given night you'd hear outside. Hard pass.

Good for them. Places destitute like this need gentrification which takes investment. I hope it works. I don’t want NOLA to remain a total shite hole.

There is a place on chef I think we used to hit after going to the dump. They sold Chinese food/po boys/daiquiris. Used to be good.

Odd that the address wasn't listed exec though they open tomorrow.
Aren't they going to be on the other side of the Target parking lot?

That's true. I was by my friends house this weekend. He lives in a nice spot really close to Tulane university on Audubon. (Not the private street). I was shocked at the gunshots I heard. I guess the majority of NOLA shootings are never reported.

Under/over on how quickly it's overrun with car jackings and crime in general?

They'll start out great, by December, the 'rented' cops will be pulled back by NOPD (who are still staffed at >50%) to put on a show to curb the annual xmas looting sprees. By January car-jackings, robberies will skyrocket, ghost town, then close up for good by April with huge debts.

She and potential employees at a well-known music venue, needed daycare that was open 24 hours. So, she opened her own. “And I had an income tax check, and I never worked for anybody ever since.” That investment, along with hard work, very long hours, and the burden of taking the financial risk, has grown into several businesses, including day cares and financial advice for other women entrepreneurs. And now, Wednesday, the mother of three, opens an upscale, adult music and restaurant venue, for what she calls grown ups in her age group.

Sounds like she has the sense to run a business. I don’t know anything about the area, but I definitely wish her the best. Somebody’s got to be willing to take a chance- might as well be someone that knows the area/clientele

Not sure I can reconcile that statement relative to where she decides to set up shop.

yeah, i wish em well. I'd love to see the east return to the glory days of the 70s-80s.

but, until they figure out a way to make it safe for people, i don't see that happening.

As long as she sells fried seafood platters and sugary pink drinks, she'll be golden.

If there are good hardworking people there, they should move. They are not chained to that area. And don’t give me that family bullshite. Move them all. Food? Bring your recipe book.

That’s exactly what many of the people I was talking about will do. They came from public housing or a worse part of town and were able to buy a nicer place in the East. When they have the opportunity, they’ll move up again, just like George Jefferson. It’s how the American Dream works.

That article was weird. It took forever for them to say the name of the restaurant- The Verdict. And it’s seems to be more of a night club with food than an “upscale restaurant”.

Video interview

it at least sounds like they have a decent plan. extra security. some there just to walk people to their cars.

Didn't see the location in the article. The video says on LakeForest Blvd. But, doesn't give an address.
