I had to come in Saturday night and have the police escort a doctor off a ship. He's banned forever.

I think a lot of it is that it is costly, high stress, and that the slightest thing going wrong can leave you stranded indefinitely.

There was a reality show on tv several years ago that documented the day to day jobs of Southwest ticket agents and gate workers. Some of the agents seemed to enjoy pushing customers’ buttons and escalating into a confrontation even when the airline was at fault. For example, the agent would tell the customer to please not raise their voice even though the customer was speaking normally. If the customer pushed back, the agent would call security.
